I was very close to grabbing this TV, but passed on it due to past experiences with Fire TV slowing down and becoming unusable after just a couple of years.

This. My $250 insignia FireTV from 2018 got unusably slow so I just got a 4k fire stick last year and it's better than new from an OS perspective.

Oh I know that. My other Samsung Smart TV has Apple TV 4K, but even after 5 years the TV is still usable. The issue with Fire TV is that it will slow down using the entire TV. It'll seize up and freeze just clicking a few buttons to change things like your HDMI input.
