Base model RAM increased from 8GB to 12GB in the M5 line.

One huge advantage is the quality of the screen. We watch a lot of movies on it when traveling, and the OLED makes a very noticible difference. Its certainly a luxury and the base iPad can do almost everything just as well

I'm not saying this is necessarily worth the 3x cost increase but here are some benefits of the Pro models:
Significantly better display
Higher Capacity Storage
Apple Intelligence
Thunderbolt / USB4 for faster data transfer
Face ID
Better Speakers
Supports Pencil Pro
The big benefits I notice on mine, are the speakers, they sound surprisingly good for a tablet with a good sound field. Image quality is top tier, it will spoil you for any other display. Performance is excellent, but I don't do much on mine other than watch videos and run apps. No heavy processing so an M4 is probably overkill. The M4 and now M5 models are noticeably thinner and lighter than their M1-3 predecessors.

Now if you don't look at one a regular iPad will suffice and you will be just as happy.

There are people that use this as computer replacements... if you are not one of those people (I am not), main benefits of this over other models is
Screen: refresh rate & OLED
Face ID
Am almost always on headphones so can't speak much to sound/speakers

Thanks for the honest feedback. All the YouTubers talk about the amazing performance, and some try to daily it as a replacement for a laptop, but the consensus is that it comes up short compared to using an actual MacBook for actual productivity that could fully utilize the raw performance. Sounded like the iPad OS really limits the potential. I personally have a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and it's basically a Netflix machine on the dining table lol. I was wondering if people using it in the real world could shed any light on any other benefits that this iPad Pro brings. Thanks!
Keep in mind most people don't do what most YouTube reviewer say they are doing with these machines. It really annoys me that most YouTube reviewer defaults to "photo editing" and "video editing" as if that is what everyone who are getting these iPad Pros are doing.

As for comparing to a full Macbook Air/Pro, it's down to personal preference. I'm old school so I need and like my full OS. But some people find it completely acceptable using iPad, since it as can double as a tablet to write on.

Again, if one uses this as their primary entertainment system, try the speaker alone you will be able to tell the difference. I don't these devices are that expensive if you consider it as something that can replace many other electronics at home (e.g., TV, person computer, gaming etc...).

Yeah I don't care for YouTube reviews in that sense either, they're just glorified ads trying to showcase all the features/capabilities that most don't use. But still, a lot of people do buy these at these prices, so I was curious as to what the real world reasons are that people are buying them for (instead of parroting what these YouTubers are saying about how these M processors are the GOAT). Good point about if you're replacing multiple devices with just one, then it's not so bad.

Genuine curiosity - people that buy these (say, over the base A16 iPad), what are your main reasons? I love nice tech as much as the next guy, just wondering if this is indeed worth nearly 3x the cost of the base iPad. I understand that the M4 chip is on another level, but (how) do you take advantage of it? Or is it mainly because the iPad Pro looks/feels more premium (no judgment here)? Thanks in advance!
Face ID is must on mobile devices. Tying in password on screen is very inconvenient

M5 iPad Pro base models are selling for $899 at local micro center store for a while now. I'll wait out for it to drop to $850 or $800 by black Friday. 12GB of RAM over 8GB is worth the wait.

Anyone weigh in with the sound quality ? I know it has 4 speakers vs 2... but when this model came out there were questions around the sound quality and if it took a step back versus previous pro generations. I am still using a 2017 iPad Pro and it has great sound, considering upgrade but do not want worse speakers.

$50 cheaper compared to when M5 wasn't around. I'll just pick one up from the store and save the shipping charge ($5). This will cover the holiday season nicely, in case it drops further within 90 days, given that it's the "old" model now.
Store price is $200 more, they don't match their online prices.

iPad Pro is really for pro Artist and lidar develop
For normal use its overkill. $300 ipad ,$250 pixel run well.
