Base model RAM increased from 8GB to 12GB in the M5 line.

One huge advantage is the quality of the screen. We watch a lot of movies on it when traveling, and the OLED makes a very noticible difference. Its certainly a luxury and the base iPad can do almost everything just as well

Hmm. i bought one 1 month ago from Costco for $950.. what's the best way to get to this deal? I know they have 90 days return policy.

Can i ping them to do price adjust ?

If they dont allow price adjust, can I do the follow:

1. buy from this deal and wait for it to deliver
2. doing files/app transfer from the current ipad to the new one
3. goto Costco warehouse and do the return .. thing is.. how can I make sure that i'm returning the old purchase?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Match the device serial number to the receipt or box.

If your purchase is within 30 days you can visit your local warehouse and get a price adjustment. I did that when my iPad Pro M4 went on sale about two weeks later. They looked up my in-store purchase and handed me a $50 bill.

If you purchased your iPad online you can submit a Price Match request at this link:
https://customerservice.costco.co...com-orders

Hope this helps.

Genuine curiosity - people that buy these (say, over the base A16 iPad), what are your main reasons? I love nice tech as much as the next guy, just wondering if this is indeed worth nearly 3x the cost of the base iPad. I understand that the M4 chip is on another level, but (how) do you take advantage of it? Or is it mainly because the iPad Pro looks/feels more premium (no judgment here)? Thanks in advance!
Most ppl use it to watch YouTube, only benefit I see using pro is 13 inch size

Recently went through the decision process of this (13") vs Air. Even in the Apple store they recommend the Air for 'ordinary' users like me (non-developer, video editor etc). Was all set to get the Air but stumbled across a BB refurb Pro M4 that was too good to pass up. Add in a gift card that was collecting dust and it was a go. Note that Apple does not currently sell the M4. I suspect it is to avoid cannibalization of M5 but I can be corrected on that.
Many advantages to the Pro. To me it was the reduced weight and thickness. Even the Pro is heavy (ish) if you're coming from a smaller tablet, and the Air even more so. Add in the better screen, 4 speakers vs 2, 256GB vs 128, and the potentially better resale and I was able to add up enough $$ to justify it. YMMV.
And 99.9% of us will never notice the difference between M4 and M5. 8GB of RAM is enough for me though some people might see how 12 is 'better'. Having worked in product development, I know that companies hold back certain improvements that they already have in hand in order to deploy them in the next, 'better' model, so they can tout the improvements and justify the higher price. This RAM thing is to me quite obviously in that category. My point is, if 8GB was somehow 'insufficient', they would never have released it in the first place.

Highly subjective but for myself I wanted Apple Pencil support back when the Pro line first got introduced, plus the nicer screen, speakers, etc. I also wanted the instant on and get to my emails, web browsing, app usage, and occasional pencil usage such as notes and doodling, plus the all day battery life. Pro lines are also better spec-ed than the other iPads, so better processor, RAM, etc so I went in to "future proof" for the long run, and it has done quite well. Have one for 6+ years that is clearly showing its age and have really appreciated its feature set and almost used it to its fullest. Would I buy it full price? Most definitely not but when it's a good deal, it's worth it for me.

I think the Airs now support pencil now. Smaller features like Face ID was limited to Pro models plus the nicer screen. Functionally I'm sure a regular iPad will suffice but the small feature adds like Pencil, faceID, better screen drew me closer to the Pro line. Experience matters a lot to me and worth it for my heavier than normal everyday use.

I got one for the Lidar sensor. Which allows me to 3D scan opjects for 3D printing.

I also used it to 3d scan my house so I can do 3D walkthrough. Which worked with my ubiquiti software to make a 3D map of my network and wifi range.

M5 iPad Pro base models are selling for $899 at local micro center store for a while now. I'll wait out for it to drop to $850 or $800 by black Friday. 12GB of RAM over 8GB is worth the wait.
Or tmobile version. $1,100 for a m4 2tb 5g. Comes with 16gb ram.

With $800 I can buy a macbook air. I just traded in my macbook air M3 for the M4 mac mini. Can someone tell me if it is worth it to spend 800 for an ipad instead??? Thanks.

Depend on your use. I have both and is fine for me since is a different needs for both. I use my ipad more that my macbook. For my needs, i can do everything on my ipad, easier and faster. I do have a gaming desktop pc for other things.

i have an air 5th, M1 chip, but I mostly just use it for some small games. I prefer watching videos on the bigger monitor (mac mini with monitor), but I guess in this case i really do not need the ipad pro version?
