Base model RAM increased from 8GB to 12GB in the M5 line.

One huge advantage is the quality of the screen. We watch a lot of movies on it when traveling, and the OLED makes a very noticible difference. Its certainly a luxury and the base iPad can do almost everything just as well

Genuine curiosity - people that buy these (say, over the base A16 iPad), what are your main reasons? I love nice tech as much as the next guy, just wondering if this is indeed worth nearly 3x the cost of the base iPad. I understand that the M4 chip is on another level, but (how) do you take advantage of it? Or is it mainly because the iPad Pro looks/feels more premium (no judgment here)? Thanks in advance!
oled 120hz was the main differentiator for me. That and faceid were the main reasons i bought a pro

Will the 13in version on sale?
Yes the 13inch was $200 off as well. I bought one for $1049.99. Item #1813989 The warehouse online showed the item in stock but not on sale. When I went to the store, it was on sale.

i have an air 5th, M1 chip, but I mostly just use it for some small games. I prefer watching videos on the bigger monitor (mac mini with monitor), but I guess in this case i really do not need the ipad pro version?
I think it comes down to your everyday use and how much the features and convenience matters to you. Your lifestyle will dictate what you choose - for some it may be one thing or can even be both a tablet plus laptop. Seems you are happy with the occasional gaming on a MacBook and watching videos on an external monitor, and not so much the portability of an iPad.

I got one for the Lidar sensor. Which allows me to 3D scan opjects for 3D printing.

I also used it to 3d scan my house so I can do 3D walkthrough. Which worked with my ubiquiti software to make a 3D map of my network and wifi range.
That's a pretty interesting use case. What app did you use to do the 3d walkthrough?

a16 is basically just me with fewer cores. the biggest difference is less memory. so yeah the base iPad a little slower all around - I would guess about 30% slower.

I switched from the 11 inch pro to the 13 pro. I found myself using the 11 inch model only sporadically, but I use the 13 inch model pretty much day in day out and when paired with a keyboard attachment it's a ridiculously great laptop substitute that you can game on and read books on, among other things. That couple inches of real estate made a huge difference, at least to me anyway.

I got a little pushback from the manager, saying the difference was too large and may not work, but it went through with no issues. Now to wait and see if any better deals come about by Black Friday.

They should've price matched. Costco is listed as a Qualified Competitor for price matching and their price match guarantee page says "We won't be beat on price."

I did it in-store...twice. The first one snuck in AppleCare even though I declined it twice. That was annoying.
