This Creality filament dryer box is mainly a budget way to dry PLA, PETG, TPU, and ABS before printing, and it can also double as an external spool holder on a P1S. The drying function is useful for moisture prone PETG, stringing, blobs, and occasional bad batches, and it can help revive filament that has sat around. The box is not airtight and does cycle outside air, so it is meant for pre drying rather than long term storage. The main drawback is the single knob interface, which feels finicky and awkward. A basic but practical pick if you want drying without spending much more.

  • The dryer can help reduce PETG stringing and blob issues by drying moisture-prone filament before printing.

  • The unit can cycle external air, which supports drying rather than only heating trapped air.

  • The dryer can improve adhesion and stringing when filament is dried at the recommended time and temperature.

  • The box can be used as an external spool holder for TPU and ABS on a P1S, adding extra utility beyond drying.

  • The controls use a single-knob interface that can feel frustrating, finicky, and inconsistent across units.

  • The unit is not airtight, so it may not function like a fully sealed drying chamber for every setup.

  • The unit reportedly arrives sealed with no intentional venting outside, which may leave moisture inside the unit.

  • Drying effectiveness may be limited if the chamber only heats the same air without properly replacing saturated air.

I was thinking the same thing - in for 2 since they can also double as external spool holders for my P1S for TPU and ABS

Haha! While an air fryer is definitely a viable option. You definitely cannot print right out of the fryer and some of the preset features on these are just so much more set and forget. But hey, we're talking about slick deals after all 😁

What type of filament do you generally use for?

Petg can get pretty rough sometimes so it's nice to have the option to dry it, especially if your start noticing extra stringing and such. I guess it kind of depends on your region, if you have a lot of high humidity in general or not. PLA, I personally have never seen any obvious issue with my pla being too wet but maybe just lucky so far.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I bought one of these recently, and it's fine, but just a word of warning; Anytime you see 'creality' and a single-knob user interface, be aware you're in for a frustrating user experience.

Yes, pulls out the hole on the back. You can see the green filament in one of the pics.

Pain, I got some Polymaker Dry Boxes to print out of a couple months back, around $25 each. They don't have the dryer portion, just the storage portion. Could have gotten a whole self-reliant system for $3 more each. Definitely worth it.
