It's for various instruments. Clarinet and guitar mostly
That's cool. I didn't know a piezo tuner pickup would work with a woodwind inst.
I used one like this for years on stringed inst, but the clip on ones won the battle years ago for simplicity but I still use a similar tuner like the korg in the studio as it seems to be more accurate.
This was the regular price pre-tariff, when on sale they went as low as $15. Funny how regular price is now considered a deal.
Yes, that's kinda how across-the-board price increases work.
Things doubled, tripled, even quadrupled in price thanks to the current economic situation....so when a sale comes along on a product that brings it back down to the old MSRP, that is indeed a "sale".
Remember, you're not paying what it cost for Guitar Center (or any other retailer) to buy that product + profit margins. You're paying for what it'll cost to replace that product in their inventory + profit margins....today.
In many places, there are pricing rules that prohibit a retailer from selling below the price they paid for an item (with a few exceptions). Now, keep in mind -- there's usually a 100-300% increase to cover costs and profit margin. This varies greatly per item, and it's something that retail tracks and measures quite obsessively.
So if they paid $1 for an item, they might charge you $3 for it....then tariffs + inflation hit which increase their cost to $3....they'll raise their prices to $6-9 for the same item. So if they have old stock and want to reduce it down, they can legally lower that price to $3 and not run afoul of any pricing laws. They can even liquidate it at $1 if they so desire...their original cost. They'd get $0 profit from it that way.....and even incur a loss from normal business operations going unpaid from that sale. But that's their call to make

I added the microphone:
What instrument do you intend to use this on?
