Looks like this BB version doesn't come with pen. Got mine from Lenovo, and it did come with Lenovo's basic pen. Uses a AAAA battery. Works great for me, but I don't draw. But it's great for writing notes, and then they get translated into text. Reviews say Samsung and Apple pencils are better and have lower latency.

I have Apple iPad Air and Samsung tablets but this is the first tablet I have this size, and I freaking love it. Smaller than a full on laptop but still super portable. Even fits in my small sling bag. It's the perfect size to get work done. Just connect a BT keyboard/mouse or buy the keyboard folio. You can do side by side windows or use PC mode (Google's version of Samsung DEX but more limited).

Two warnings about this tablet... While the CPU performance is just fine for MS Office apps and browsing and all the work apps I've tried, the GPU seems weak for modern 3D games. I have seen slow down in some games. I play this one Z Survivor, and when there's more than like 100 zombies on the screen, the FPS plummets. And reviews pretty much say the same. Fortnite not good. PubG playable with lower settings.

Second thing is the only biometric ID is a face scanner that doesn't work for banking and other apps that would usually work with fingerprint or face ID.

Lastly for any accessories you get, be sure they match this 2025 version, as this has different dimensions than the previous version. There are few 3rd party accessories, other than basic covers.

Lenovo's Idea Tab Plus stands out as a large 12.1 inch Android tablet for notes, office work, and streaming, with a sharp 2.5K display, 8GB of RAM, a 10200mAh battery, and 45W charging. The size feels portable enough for a bag, and the pen support makes handwriting and text conversion useful, though the pen is not included in the Best Buy version. The main drawbacks are the modest processor and weak graphics for modern 3D games, plus face unlock only and limited accessory options. Security updates are expected through 2029, making it a practical midrange pick for everyday use.

  • The tablet supports the Lenovo Tab Pen even when the pen is not included in the box.

  • Security update expectations for the 2025 model are stated as running until 2029, which is better than older Lenovo tablets.

    q99Medic311

  • The tablet is positioned for note taking and office work with a portable 12.1-inch form factor.

    scREAMZ

  • The display and battery setup can be stronger than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ comparison, including 90Hz and faster 45W charging.

    joshuaNH

  • The GPU can struggle with modern 3D games, causing FPS drops in titles like Z Survivor and Fortnite.

    scREAMZ

  • The tablet's biometric support is limited to a face scanner, which may not work for banking apps that usually rely on fingerprint or face ID.

    scREAMZ

  • The touchscreen can reportedly barely work, which led to a return.

    Flyfarmer

  • Accessory compatibility can be limited because the 2025 version uses different dimensions than earlier models.

Thoughts on this or the Samsung A9+ with 8gb ram for $199?
Samsung A9+ does not support a pen or stylus, which I really like to use. Cheapest Samsung tablet that I would buy is the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, which Amazon currently sells for $320.

Thanks. Just curious, what do you use the pen for, just notes?

Can the SD card be used as internal storage? I bought the Idea Tab Pro last year and surprisingly the SD card could only be used as external storage.
I don't know of any android tablet that automatically uses as cards as internal storage. Certainly nothing recent. There are software tools to do this, but they can be cumbersome to use

For those adventurous enough, you can pick up the Chinese version of the Lenovo Tab Pro (Xiaoxin Pad Pro) on Aliexpress with coupons and cashback for around the same price. The Chinese version does have English as an option and you can enable Google Play store and services. I was able to pick up the Legion 3 equivalent for around $220 after CB which has SD8 Gen 3.
I am not been able to find one with SD8G3. Only seeing either SD870 or MT8300.

Get s8+ x800 model 12.4' inch OLED 120hz screen, much faster CPU. Lightweight, metal, top notch.
Under $300 on eBay, and an amazing machine.

There are tons of sellers. Just go to Aliexpress and search for Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro and just sort by low price. For CB, just do a google on Aliexpress CB and pick the portal with the highest CB. I was able to get 30% CB on 11.11. I think CB has dropped progressively more each day after. The site I used is blocked on here and cannot be linked.

Link PLEASE.

Is this still getting security updates?

Lenovo products are typically horrible at that

This is the 2025 model, so it should get security updates until 2029. That's not great compared to some other brands and products, but better than older Lenovo tablets.

If security updates are really important to you, I would buy a Lenovo Chromebook instead of a Lenovo Android tablet. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 came out in 2024 and Lenovo (and Google) are promising security updates until 2034.

If it's getting security updates until 2029 that's great actually compared to other Lenovo products. The last Lenovo tablet I got (the M9) was a shitshow

Isn't this for a better version of the tablet? Includes stylus, 256GB storage, processor and RAM look the same but I'm not 100% sure, says 8MP vs 5MP front camera, 2TB max SD vs 1TB.

This BB version doesn't include the pen but seem to from other sellers including directly from Lenovo. All reviews I've seen include the pen. But yes there are other variations with more RAM and storage.
