Metal bezel is prettier than the plastic Forerunner. Forerunner has a barometric altimeter, making it much more useful than the Vivoactive for endurance sports. I owned a Vivoactive 4 that had an altimeter. I gave up on Garmin altogether after they deleted that feature from the Vivoactive product line.
Upgraded from Vivoactive 3 Music to 4 and the battery is only giving me 3-4 days now. Still deciding whether to get Version 5 or skip it and go to 6. As a 77-year-old I am looking for a watch not so heavy on the physical activities, but one that has the SOS and falling down reporting. Getting old is a Bitch!

Any compelling reasons to get this over the forerunner 165?

I have vivoactive 3 still working solid, thought of ugprading it, Thanks Altimeter comment was helpful.
The Vivoactive 5 for $169 at Sam's Club is probably still a lot better deal right now. Maybe even at $199 for Orchid color. At least for most people that aren't looking for tons of activities and the very latest sensors. Still, not bad.
The battery life on my Vivoactive6 is incredible. I do cardio 5 times a week for an hour and in addition to daily activities and it goes a week before my routine charges but it indicates I could go up to 12 days if I wanted. The phone app is nice to sync activities and post results on social media.

Changed out a Google Pixel watch for the Vivoactive 5 six months ago and love it! Not sure how much an upgrade the 6 is over the 5. Very detailed comparison review here: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/...thing.html
Looks like doubling of memory storage (4GB to 8GB) and data fields (from 4 to 8) are the two biggest improvements.

Be careful with Amazon. Link is to some 3rd party seller. I went to the garmin store on Amazon and linked to the vivo 6 from there to get Amazon as a seller.
- smart alarm that works (their implementation has a lot of negative reviews, and it didn't work for me)
- ability to filter notifications from iOS by app (this is available on Android, but on iOS notifications are either on or off)
So, a few weeks ago, I returned mine.
Reader, I kid you not, I miss the Vivoactive 6 daily.
The screen is very pretty. Body Battery (for me) was a huge source of new insights. It has so many capabilities that can be done on the watch itself without the app.
The activities support is awesome - breath work built in; you can program your own workouts that then play on the watch with illustrations; running features are apparently awesome.
I am considering re-buying, and just ALSO wearing my Fitbit while I sleep for the smart alarm. That is how much I loved this watch.
If you don't care about smart alarm or notification filtering, I would recommend 1000%.
