I love the glass container, but the lids can't go into the microwave (or heated dishwasher) without warping.
Reviews pointing out the warping problem: https://www.walmart.com/reviews/p...pect=15112
This Anchor Hocking glass storage set stands out as a low-cost way to get full-size glass containers for meal prep, snacks, and leftovers. The glass itself is praised as useful and good value at around $20, with the rectangular shapes helping with fridge space. The biggest drawback is the lids, which can warp in the microwave or a heated dishwasher and are often expensive or hard to replace. Some lids do fit Pyrex or Snapware, and workarounds like plastic wrap or spare lids are being used.
people who already own Pyrex glassware and need extra lids because commenters say Anchor Hocking and Pyrex lids are interchangeable for their containers.
shoppers who are okay using non-plastic covers for reheating because multiple commenters note the lids can't go in the microwave or heated dishwasher, so they use alternatives like Saran Wrap or an old lid for microwave use.
people who want to stock up on storage containers for the price because commenters report it feels like a really good value at $20 and that Walmart+ plus an associate discount brought the set to about $18.
meal-prep cooks who want glass storage for ingredients because the small cups are described as great for prep-ahead ingredient storage and even work as pet water bowls when the lids are frustrating.
buyers looking to replace cracked Pyrex lids on a budget because one commenter says these would be nice replacements for their Pyrex with cracked lids.
renters or anyone trying to organize a fridge efficiently because one commenter prefers the rectangular containers for better space management and says it's worth trying at this price.
buyers who expect to replace lids individually later because multiple commenters say replacement lids aren't sold or are costly, and one says their lids cracked after a few years with no affordable replacements.
people who plan to microwave the containers with the included lids because reviewers cited in the comments say the lids can warp if microwaved or put in a heated dishwasher.
people who are sensitive to lid durability because commenters report lids cracking (and having to throw them out) while their Pyrex lids never cracked.
buyers who need consistently unblemished glass because one commenter reports quality control issues across multiple sets, with chipped edges and hairline cracks in most of the sets they bought.
people who need large-capacity containers for big meals because at least one commenter says the containers are very small and that the set is about twice the size of the largest container in it.
Replacement lids are hard to source and can be expensive, with some reports of no separate lids being available from Anchor and others finding lids around $6 each. Buying a full set is often cheaper than replacing lids one by one.
No. The lids can warp if microwaved or put in a heated dishwasher, so they're best kept out of high heat. For microwave use, a separate lid like Saran Wrap or another substitute is safer.
The lids can crack after a few years and may warp from heat exposure, especially in the microwave or a heated dishwasher. That makes them the weak point of the set even when the glass bowls themselves stay fine.
Yes. Saran Wrap seals well on the glass rims, and some people use old margarine lids or even packaged-food lids as substitutes. The tradeoff is that these alternatives usually won't stack as neatly in the fridge.
The set includes small 1-cup pieces, but the larger containers are full-size storage containers and the 4-cup pieces are suitable for meals. The smallest cups are better for snacks or prep ingredients, not full meals.
Yes, the lids can be interchangeable with Pyrex on some containers, and Snapware lids also fit Pyrex glass containers. That makes these sets useful as low-cost replacements when you already have compatible glassware.
The small cup bowls are great for prep-ahead ingredient storage... And make great water bowls for pets when the lids go.
Regarding the lids, I agree it's super frustrating, but flexibility and longevity in plastic pretty much counteract one another. It's a hard thing to get right with food safe chemicals, as far as I understand.

Saran Wrap makes a good substitute lid, apart from not allowing stacking in the fridge. It seals perfectly on glass rims. The plastic lids absorb odors anyway and that's one of the reasons I prefer glass containers.
Anyone know if the lids for these are sold separately at a decent price anywhere? Because I have tons of the bowls but none of the lids.
I wrote to Anchor before and I was told no lids available separately.
I have Anchor & Pyrex glassware with lids. They are the same age. My Pyrex are all great, but my Anchor is missing a lot of lids because I had to throw them out due to cracking.
I won't buy Anchor glass storage because of the problem with the lids (from different packages, not a single purchase of possibly defective items).
I as well and it's frustrating that seemingly no company can make a lid that doesn't have issues after a year or so.. Pyrex, these, the rubbermaid glass/plastic, and others. Rubbermaid frustrates me more than the rest though because those things cost a lot and their lids seem like designed to make it just over a year or something. We even tried babying them and they still starting having issues like cracking around the edges.
It's almost like they do it on purpose so you have to keep replacing the bowls just to get new lids. I'm having the same issue. Plenty of the bowls, but no lids and have yet to find affordable replacements for them.
