This Anchor Hocking glass storage set stands out as a low-cost way to get full-size glass containers for meal prep, snacks, and leftovers. The glass itself is praised as useful and good value at around $20, with the rectangular shapes helping with fridge space. The biggest drawback is the lids, which can warp in the microwave or a heated dishwasher and are often expensive or hard to replace. Some lids do fit Pyrex or Snapware, and workarounds like plastic wrap or spare lids are being used.

Common Questions (6)

  • Replacement lids are hard to source and can be expensive, with some reports of no separate lids being available from Anchor and others finding lids around $6 each. Buying a full set is often cheaper than replacing lids one by one.

  • No. The lids can warp if microwaved or put in a heated dishwasher, so they're best kept out of high heat. For microwave use, a separate lid like Saran Wrap or another substitute is safer.

  • The lids can crack after a few years and may warp from heat exposure, especially in the microwave or a heated dishwasher. That makes them the weak point of the set even when the glass bowls themselves stay fine.

  • Yes. Saran Wrap seals well on the glass rims, and some people use old margarine lids or even packaged-food lids as substitutes. The tradeoff is that these alternatives usually won't stack as neatly in the fridge.

  • The set includes small 1-cup pieces, but the larger containers are full-size storage containers and the 4-cup pieces are suitable for meals. The smallest cups are better for snacks or prep ingredients, not full meals.

  • Yes, the lids can be interchangeable with Pyrex on some containers, and Snapware lids also fit Pyrex glass containers. That makes these sets useful as low-cost replacements when you already have compatible glassware.

Anyone know if the lids for these are sold separately at a decent price anywhere? Because I have tons of the bowls but none of the lids.
You are getting both lids and pans. So half that number to make the total

I as well and it's frustrating that seemingly no company can make a lid that doesn't have issues after a year or so.. Pyrex, these, the rubbermaid glass/plastic, and others. Rubbermaid frustrates me more than the rest though because those things cost a lot and their lids seem like designed to make it just over a year or something. We even tried babying them and they still starting having issues like cracking around the edges.
Yeah, it's a big conspiracy with the laws of physics. It's called plastic. It's not easy to put it in the microwave safely. What you want is Silicone so it doesn't warp and you can put it in the microwave safely. Too bad it costs 20X more. You can't buy $20 deals then complain it's made of cheap material as advertised.

Amazon and Ebay sell lids but like others have mentioned, it's cheaper to buy new sets and just use the old glass with plastic wrap.

Nope, that's how they get you. Lids are like $6 each. Good luck. You're better off buying a new set. I too wish they sold just the lids at a good price

Inspect each glass peice before leaving the store!!! I purchased in total 4 sets and of said 4 sets, 3 of them had chipped edges and or hairline cracks. Not to mention not one was without a blemish or defect in the glass. YMMV

How does this compare to the Costco pyrex set for $20?
Was wondering the same. I saw Costco ones have stronger lock in mechanism lids. It's called snapware Pyrex & they will be on sale next week on

I wrote to Anchor before and I was told no lids available separately.

I have Anchor & Pyrex glassware with lids. They are the same age. My Pyrex are all great, but my Anchor is missing a lot of lids because I had to throw them out due to cracking.

I won't buy Anchor glass storage because of the problem with the lids (from different packages, not a single purchase of possibly defective items).
check on aliexpress for silicone ones, or look on amazon they probably have them too.

Its only for pickup now.

FYI, Pyrex glass container use snapware lid, lifetime warranty, just search for warranty and chat with them, they will send out replacement for free.

I got lucky and found 6 nice sized (three 4-cups and three 7- cups, exactly what I needed) Halloween themed Pyrex sets with their lids, in like new condition for only $5 total at a garage sale this past Saturday. Otherwise you're right, this would've been my next best option. Wouldn't be surprised if they're made to be shitty by design so you have to keep buying a full set. The Rubbermaid brilliance sets have good lids in my experience, but I'm not fond of plastic.
