This Anchor Hocking glass storage set stands out as a low-cost way to get full-size glass containers for meal prep, snacks, and leftovers. The glass itself is praised as useful and good value at around $20, with the rectangular shapes helping with fridge space. The biggest drawback is the lids, which can warp in the microwave or a heated dishwasher and are often expensive or hard to replace. Some lids do fit Pyrex or Snapware, and workarounds like plastic wrap or spare lids are being used.

  • The glass containers can work well for prep-ahead ingredient storage and can also serve as pet water bowls when lids are unavailable.

  • The set can feel like a good value at around $20 when it arrives and the glass quality meets expectations.

  • The included lids can fit other glass containers in the same Anchor Hocking and Pyrex mix, which helps reduce waste.

  • The rectangular container shapes can help with space management in storage areas.

  • The plastic lids can warp if they are microwaved or placed in a heated dishwasher.

  • The lids can crack over time, and replacement lids may not be sold separately through Anchor.

  • Glass quality control can be inconsistent, with chipped edges or hairline cracks showing up in multiple sets.

  • Shipping may cost $10 even when the order total is over $35, which can undercut the deal value.

The small cup bowls are great for prep-ahead ingredient storage... And make great water bowls for pets when the lids go.
Regarding the lids, I agree it's super frustrating, but flexibility and longevity in plastic pretty much counteract one another. It's a hard thing to get right with food safe chemicals, as far as I understand.

Saran Wrap makes a good substitute lid, apart from not allowing stacking in the fridge. It seals perfectly on glass rims. The plastic lids absorb odors anyway and that's one of the reasons I prefer glass containers.

Would these lids work on my Pyrex? Seems like the cheapest way to replace cracked Pyrex lids (albeit wasteful...).
Yes, they will. I have a mix of pyrex and anchor hocking and interchange the lids all the time.

Anyone know if the lids for these are sold separately at a decent price anywhere? Because I have tons of the bowls but none of the lids.
I wrote to Anchor before and I was told no lids available separately.

I have Anchor & Pyrex glassware with lids. They are the same age. My Pyrex are all great, but my Anchor is missing a lot of lids because I had to throw them out due to cracking.

I won't buy Anchor glass storage because of the problem with the lids (from different packages, not a single purchase of possibly defective items).

I love the glass container, but the lids can't go into the microwave (or heated dishwasher) without warping.

Agreed, these lids suck. Mine cracked after a few years and they don't sell replacements.

My Pyrex lids have never cracked. So, no, I would not say pretty darn good!

I as well and it's frustrating that seemingly no company can make a lid that doesn't have issues after a year or so.. Pyrex, these, the rubbermaid glass/plastic, and others. Rubbermaid frustrates me more than the rest though because those things cost a lot and their lids seem like designed to make it just over a year or something. We even tried babying them and they still starting having issues like cracking around the edges.
It's almost like they do it on purpose so you have to keep replacing the bowls just to get new lids. I'm having the same issue. Plenty of the bowls, but no lids and have yet to find affordable replacements for them.
