This is a 60Hz panel.120Hz is with "smoothing" enabled. It cannot display a 120Hz input nor can it accurately display 24FPS content without 3:2 pulldown and judder. The internal FireTV implementation does not support output of 120Hz for Fire TV games. This is an Amazon Fire TV 4K device (based on the NFQ design). It would have to be a 4K Plus (ZTT) or 4K MAX (VH9)-based device to support 4K120 internally. Native display: 60HzInputs: 2.0, limited to 4K60Internal: embedded HDMI, limited to 4K60Fake nonsense marketing refresh rate with soap opera effect enabled: "120Hz".

This Toshiba 75 inch M550 is a budget QLED Fire TV that stands out for full array local dimming, a built in subwoofer, and solid gaming support at 1440p and 120Hz with VRR on Xbox and PlayStation. The panel is still a true 60Hz display, so 120Hz only works in limited gaming modes and not at 4K. Fire TV software is also described as slow, making an external streamer a better fit. A useful pick if you want strong picture features without paying for a higher tier set.

  • Console gamers playing at 1440p, because VRR works at 120Hz there while 4K stays limited to 60Hz.

  • Movie watchers who want stronger contrast, because full array local dimming helps blacks and the built-in subwoofer adds extra bass.

    nw2thisMellowShape8807

  • Shoppers wanting a 60Hz TV with motion smoothing, because the panel is native 60Hz and the advertised 120Hz mode is only smoothing.

    FozzyFozbornegamabunta

  • Cord-cutters using an external streamer, because the onboard Fire TV software is slow and an HDMI device runs better.

    Mr.Fry

  • 4K console gamers expecting 120Hz gameplay, because the panel cannot accept 120Hz input and stays limited to 4K60.

    FozzyFozborneMr.FryMr.Fry

  • Shoppers expecting true 120Hz panel performance, because the set is a native 60Hz display with smoothing-based marketing refresh rates.

    FozzyFozbornegamabunta

  • Viewers sensitive to motion artifacts, because 24fps content can show 3:2 pulldown judder.

    FozzyFozborne

  • People who want a fast built-in smart TV interface, because the Fire TV software is very slow.

Between this and the Walmart Hisense 75" QLED for $378, which is better? Or is Roku vs. Fire the main difference?

I almost pulled the trigger on the Hisense for $378 but someone I know told me that their Hisense TV (Dunno what size) starting getting lines on the screen just shortly after 1 Year.

My tcl roku from Walmart has a display failure after 1 year, while the same tv but from best buy didn't have any issues, maybe Walmart has got some subpar product? The reviews of the Walmart tv proved that many had the same sudden display failure issue

These TVs look great out of the box but if you pull the trigger, always spend a bit more and get the extended warranty for peace of mind.

FWIW, I bought a 65" Hisense Roku TV in 2019, still using it today without any problems.

I got it in yesterday. it's HDMI 2.0. However my ps5 and series x can output 1440 @120 with vrr. No 120 at 4K, just 1440p

I have the exact same Toshiba M550 model (Hisense made) Fire TV from 2022 and it's still working good.
