Other than WiFi 7 and the 2.5GbE ports, the Flint 3 is a downgrade from the Flint 2. Due to the less powerful CPU, VPN throughput is slower on the Flint 3 and does not support open source OS like OpenWRT. If neither of that matters to you, get the Flint 3 for the WiFi 7 and 2.5GbE ports.

Great price for a top notch router. VPN integration is a big thing with people but one other selling point is the adguard integration. Amazon is trying to push updates to their fire stick OS to block sideloading apps.

Now I am not one to advocate sailing the high seas because it is very bad. Very, very bad.

But if you go to the interface of the router (usually 192.168.8.1) -> Applications -> Adguard Home -> Click Settings Page link (or type in 192.168.8.1:3000)

Go into Filters -> Custom Filtering Rules and type in the urls you want to block. Format is like this ||Type url here^

Everything between the || and ^ will be filtered. Think of those two symbols like wildcard operators in python or the "like" operator in SQL.

You can google the urls that amazon may or may not use to update the firestick. Once you block updates, you will be golden. Or you can get an onn 4k plus. I feel like once amazon really clamps down, people will move to other streaming sticks.

tl;dr this router is the tits and is also a great warship for sailing the high seas.

Btw, it's around $125 on Amazon. Feels like it's worth just not having to deal with AliExpress. Just received it today. So simple to set up and excellent speed.

Can anyone comment on the range for this? I currently have a TP-Link XE75 Mesh system, but the lack of OS customization is a big problem for me. My homes a single floor, 3 bedroom, 1,600 sqft home
Good signal cover 2000sqt home and 100' yard no problem. I bought it from Amazon $113 for easy return if not working out. Someone use 2nd router as repeater to cover his 1 acre property, which is very good.

$20 definitely sounds great but why trust the center of your home network to some router someone did who knows what with. Also this particular brand makes a lot of things much easier like Nord integration which to make your own configuration manually is relatively horrible and time consuming if you even get thru it all.
You're flashing the firmware. What can anyone do to it that would be a problem after you flash it? You're using a community firmware with more eyes on it rather than some company firmware that you can't verify, like GL.iNet.

The Gl.inet UI does make it easier to do some things. If you need multiple routers though, the cost gets stacked.

If you don't need a lot of power (throughput), I'm not sure spending that much on this router is a great buy when you can install openwrt (the firmware this router is based on) on lots of routers on facebook marketplace. Sometimes you even get lucky with a fairly good quad core used router with lots of ram, that's almost as good as this for $20.

Even users that need VPN and adblockers can run things just fine on a well spec $20 router. People sell routers without really knowing what's in them.
Can you give some examples of these used quad core routers you found for that cheap? I've been looking on facebook marketplace for some Asus ones and they are still pretty pricey. I see a lot of TP-Link routers, but I think most of them don't support OpenWRT.
