How do these compare to the competition? I realize this is about half the price currently, but I know they have a new model out.

May not be a dealbreaker for most, but the Costco version includes a soft case instead of hardcase like this deal.

Depends on the competition you're talking about. If you're talking at the full price then... they're good, well designed, but you can get better performance in some areas elsewhere. I'd still highly recommend them, but I'd also recommend others. If you're taking at this price then... they're pretty fantastic. You can find slightly older sets (Momentum 4, Sony XM5, Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2) for a similar price range (especially if you're willing to go refurb) and then it becomes more of a matter of preference. I personally like Bose and at this price I'd have no qualms getting these. (Note: I have more headphones than I'd care to share, and Bose has always been decent from a user experience point of view.)
