When you first start playing, you suck. There is this real satisfaction over time as you begin leveling your player and learning courses and you start seeing your score drop. The swing mechanic feels fantastic.
The game is not perfect. The myCareer feels a bit lacking, but is still perfectly suitable. In myCareer the menus lag quite a bit etc. Which is pretty amateur game design, and laziness.
Overall, it's my favorite sports game in years. It's a lot of fun, and even the Ranked Stuff is go at your own pace and fun. If you do buy it, a couple of tips: 1) when you begin your backswing (pull your analog stick down) you feel a slight vibration that tells you you're not in the proper zone. You can stop the swing, and keep resetting the backswing until you stop getting the vibration. 2) If you like the game enough, get a controller with Hall Effect sticks; most popular is GameSir. Makes a shocking amount of difference. Turn the rate up to 1000hz.
