damn this is tempting. ive only played the classic NES titles and have never played any beyond that generation.
You haven't been spoiled by the modern quality-of-life stuff, so the HD 2D remakes would be perfect for you. Unfortunately after playing DQ11, I'm spoiled from having the monsters in the overworld (so you can explore without battles every 5 seconds), so these are a no-go for me.

it's a little different game imo, more satisfying than the original, especially with the job changes etc.
I cannot stress enough to skip the Switch version unless you're planning to get the free upgrade to Switch 2.
Switch 1 has long load times. 7-8 secs to leave a town or enter a town doesn't sound like much until you've dumped 20+ hours into it. Gets frustrating. Go for the PS5 version.
