The 98 inch TCL QM7K stands out as a huge, bright mini LED TV with deep blacks, strong local dimming, and picture quality that gets compared favorably to OLED. It also draws praise for gaming features and Dolby Vision, and the size makes it a dramatic basement or home theater upgrade. The main cautions are its weight and awkward mounting needs, since the VESA holes sit low and a sturdy large mount or professional installation matters. A buzzing issue has also been reported on some 2024 and 2025 units, though other sets have no such problem.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. Best Buy price-matched NFM's lower cart price for the 98" QM7K, including cases where the nearest NFM was hundreds of miles away. The lower price often had to be shown in cart, and some reps required persistence or a different agent.
A heavy-duty mount with a large VESA range is needed. Specific mounts mentioned as working include the Sanus 65-140" and Sanus VXT7B2, and a VIVO 60-120" mount rated for 900x600mm VESA; the TV's mounting holes sit low on the back, so clearance and stud placement matter.
Yes. The deal has been paired with free delivery and installation, and some orders also included free mounting on concrete or a wall mount install. For very large TVs, buyers noted the box is huge and heavy, so bundled installation is especially useful.
The QM7K is already very bright for most rooms, and the QM8K's main advantage is even higher brightness. Several owners said the QM7K is bright enough in dark rooms and that its local dimming and contrast make it look close to OLED.
A buzzing issue has been reported on some 2024 and 2025 units, but multiple owners reported no buzzing or other problems on their 98" QM7K. That makes it worth checking your unit after delivery, especially if you notice coil-whine-like noise.

BTW, the tv mount holes are very low on the TCL so the TV may tilt down without a good mount.
I don't extend it very far, just to get to cables & mainly to check the status window on our radon remediation system (they had it in the middle of the wall when we bought the house).
My biggest concern is pulling the studs out of the wall. It is a pretty heavy TV. đŸ˜„
My 2016 LeEco Umax85 is getting old and looking for a replacement. The LeEco has 3Ds but honestly I never used it much.
Waiting for the 115 inchers to come down sub-$5k, but I don't see that happening for a few years.
Thanks in advance for any help.
TIA

Now that it's up& running I couldn't be happier. It had an amazing picture, as close to OLED that I have seen.
I'd love the 115" but I had to dis assemble my stair case to get this one in the basement and it 98" is as big as I could fit.

Any TV over 75" needs to be professional installed specially if an articulating wall mount or a pull down model is used.
The pull down models have a 90lbs limit. You'd have to find an upper level model and they usually tun over 800 bucks.

Angi can be a mess, but there's a workaround: when they create the booking page for your installation, include very specific details that make the job sound more complex. Most contractors won't accept it, and after enough failed matches, you can escalate. At that point Angi usually ends up paying out more to bring in a qualified professional, even if it means they take a loss, because they want to maintain their contract with Walmart.
