Community Reviews

The Vitamix 5200 stands out as a powerful, long lasting blender that excels at smoothies, frozen drinks, and even tougher jobs like blending cooked bones for broth or pet food. The tall 64 ounce container is a major draw, especially for those who prefer its narrow shape and vortex for drinks, and the motor has a strong reputation for years of steady use. The main drawbacks are the lack of preset programs, the tall footprint, and the lid design, which can leak if overfilled or run too fast. It feels best suited to buyers who want classic Vitamix power and the included tall container.

  • The 5200 can blend turkey and chicken bones into mushy broth effortlessly.

    bargainhunterforever

  • The 5200 can produce smooth smoothies and a very creamy pina colada with ice.

    gooddeals23

  • The tall 64 oz container can help with blending performance for some storage setups.

    fluker109

  • The tall 64 oz package can be useful for single servings when paired with the right container choice.

    timbertop

  • The 5200 lacks preset blending programs, which can make the deal feel less compelling.

    boosterjm

  • The lid mechanism can leak if the blender is filled too high or spun too fast.

    ScarletCircle7513

  • The tall 64 oz jar can be too tall to fit normal storage space.

    fluker109

  • The blade and bearing assembly can stiffen after non-use and may require a costly container replacement out of warranty.

I choose this. Container width is the main reason.

I bought e300 or 320 can't remember the model at Costco. I don't know how much better Vitamix is compared to other brands, like cheaper Ninja. I should've bought something cheaper. I don't use ice. Now i'm looking into small personal blenders like nutribullet or similar. Vitamix is too much.

In my job that I spent 35 years, a sewage lab worker, we used Oster professional blenders forever. Very expensive with glass blenders. We finally upgraded to stainless jars. Leaky jars and broken glass with an occasional rock made these expensive blenders a problem. Personally I would buy cheap blenders except for a stainless oster blender. Then Target had a clearance on Vitamix blenders. I bought 3 of them. I cook turkey bones until they are mushy after boiling for soup broth. I blend these with the Vitamix effortlessly. I do the same with chicken bones so my dogs get the most out of their food. I have never looked back. I hope you don't get a lemon and enjoy your mixer as much as I do. The Vitamix was so much more powerful than any of the Oster professional models.

That's good to know and great idea with bones! Should be very nutritious for the pups. Usually we throw out bones after making the broth. I'll give that a try!

I have a Nutribullet now. While it works for personal smoothies main container is too wide so chopping ice, and preparing other things. Looking forward to Vitamix based on the what I hear from folks including you.

Purchased this blender via a Slickdeal in 2020 for ~$260. Makes terrific smoothies. This also makes the smoothest, creamiest Pina Colada I've ever had. Simply recipe: rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice, blended with ice. I get the cream of coconut off Amazon, but it's available from a variety of supermarkets and vendors. I've had numerous blenders over the years. This is head and shoulders above anything we previously owned. Zero problems. Motor still going strong. Hope this may help some.

A glass container would be a liability with a blender of this power, they make a stainless steel one
