The 115 inch QM7K is being treated as a giant home theater TV that can replace a projector, with mini LED black levels that come surprisingly close to OLED and a picture that looks brighter and better than projection. The sheer size is the main draw, especially beside the 98 inch model, and the set is seen as a strong fit for light controlled rooms. The main drawbacks are the $9,999 price, heavy 200 plus pound handling, and a box nearly 10 feet long. It is a compelling option if you want projector scale without projector compromises.

Common Questions (4)

  • It can replace a projector if you want a brighter image, stronger black levels, and a more TV-like picture in a light-controlled room. A projector with an ALR screen still has an advantage for reflected-light theater feel, but the 115" QM7K is described as closer to OLED than expected and better than projectors seen so far.

  • The price is viewed as steep, with some comparing it unfavorably to the 98" model at around $2,000 and saying it should be closer to $4,000. Others still consider the 17" jump from 98" to 115" huge and worth it if the budget allows.

  • Yes, it is extremely large and heavy: the box is almost 10 feet long and the TV weighs well over 200 lbs. It includes screw-in side handles to help maneuver it, but real-world installs may require major stair or doorway planning.

  • Best Buy lists it at 900 watts, but that figure is likely a maximum rather than typical draw. Actual consumption should vary with brightness, scene content, and speaker volume.

I went to a local Best Buy and compared the TCL 98 inches and the 115 inches which were on the wall side by side. The difference of 17 inches diagonal size is huge! I already have an 85 TCL and a 100 Hisense and a 110 inch projector screen but I'd upgrade to this if I can only afford the 10K price.

I'm already laughing Big Grin ~1800 for a 98"... 10k for 115"?? It's like the 97" OLED pricing. Just not making enough volume for there to be any economies of scale I guess.
Economy of scale and shipping which go hand in hand. Once they are a certain size they become much more difficult to pack in shipping containers and trucks

The box is almost 10 feet long and the tv itself weighs well over 200 lbs. It comes with handles that screw into the sides of the TV to make it a bit easier to maneuver.

I have a 120" projector in my basement. I wanted to upgrade it one day. Always thought I'd buy a better projector, but I'll probably replace it with a TV instead. Crazy
Like you, I have a 125" projector to replace.

I got the 100" QM7K deal and will probably never use the projector again.

Just bought this two weeks ago at $11999. Hooray for price match!I upgraded from an 83" OLED and have 0 regrets. the mini-led does an excellent job with black levels, and although the OLED is probably still a bit better for black levels, the difference is much much closer than I expected it to be. The massive size more than makes up for it and much better than any projector I've seen.Still a lot to spend on a tv for sure, but I was cross shopping higher end home theater projectors and this seemed like it would be worth a little extra money for much better picture quality.
I bought the 98" & I agree, there are so many local dimming zones that it is very close to OLED

I have the 98" and it is incredible and for $2000 a couple weeks ago but to me I have looked at the picture of the 98" X11k and its half this price and if i was to go different, i would choose the X11k at $8000 off for half this, Thats just me tho.

Do you know how much energy a tv this big uses? I'd guess around 600 watts/hr on theatre mode.

Best Buy's website lists it at 900 watts. I'm guessing that is speakers full volume, max brightness and bright scenes. Power supply max wattage and average are going to be different. Kind of curious and may put an energy monitor on it. Never thought about power consumption on a tv this large.

I'm in the same situation - 110" on a non-HDR projector and after upgrading my upstairs VT60 to a QM8K I don't really enjoy the projector anymore and can't wait to upgrade to a 98".

Congrats on such a nice tv. Is Blu-ray content still sharp on such a large tv or do you need 4k discs?
