There's a S(lim) and a non-S(lim) version of this laptop. This slim version throttles the CPU and GPU to being a whole performance class lower in some cases. Battery life also suffers (no surprise with most gaming laptops). The benefit though is that it is on the light end for a 16" laptop weighing barely 5lbs. It also hides a second M.2 2280 4.0 slot under the DIMM shield. The screen quality is also praised, with slight caveats. 12GB of VRAM might be a game-changer for some, especially under $1500. All in all, a jack of all trades.

This seems like a really reasonable price for a gaming laptop.

I wish nvidia would stop naming it's mobile GPUs so deceptively though. Seems like the performance is about 80% of a desktop 5060. sigh

Not saying it is a bad product, it just shouldn't be called a 5070 Ti when is less than half the performance of the desktop part.

been monitoring laptops in this range for a while and this is pretty good if you are not near a microcenter. these are the one with the lower wattage GPU from what i can tell. i'd prefer the one with 150w GPU. also looking at thunderbolt 5 so i can plug in a real GPU one day.

I bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i with almost the same specs except only a 5070, Open Box from Best Buy at this price. Waiting for it to arrive today, otherwise I'd jump on this. Not sure which is the better laptop, but not using it for gaming really, just CAD. There's also the MSI at Walmart for $1299 without OLED, and 16Gb RAM with a 5070 ti. Decisions, decisions. Hoping to see even better prices if I don't love the Legion.

Typing on a Walmart EVOO I7 9th Gen 2060 17.3" that I bought BF 2019 for $999 which is finally giving up the ghost. I never used the keyboard much until the last two weeks, but boy does it suck. Anybody else out there have/had this one?

Anybody have any input on going from a 17.3" to a 16" in terms of productivity?

That Lenovo OLED screen is 165hz. The MSI is garbage with LCD.

Once you play game in OLED and HDR, you will never go back to anything else. Trust me on this shit.

If you run in Turbo mode, there's no throttling.

I have a 49" OLED attached to my computer. It's so game-changing that if my old IPS screen was this big, I'd gladly switch to it to avoid having to use anything made by Samsung.

It's really not as big of a deal as you say.

Because you have never anything to compare side to side. I have. Until you compare them side by side, playing a HDR video or play games side by side with HDR on then you can talk. Until then, go do a comparison then come back here and yep all you want.

Then they'd be criticized for charging so much more than their equally performing desktop counterparts. If 5080M was rebranded as a 5060, suddenly it would cost $2500 for a 5060 in a laptop vs about $1000 for a 5060 in a desktop. So people will be pissed off either way.

Why don't you bring your desktop and travel? Oh wait...

At the end of the day, it's the same stupid energy directed towards nVidia, just coming from two different directions. Either you'd be mad at the naming scheme or flat-out ignoring the lack of convenience and the price you pay for it.

I have my 49" monitor directly next to my 34" IPS monitor, both running different computers. I can turn my head to the left and compare IPS vs HDR OLED. I'm comparing it right now. What you're doing is just hype. The difference isn't enough to demand a premium.
