Community Reviews
This solar-powered Tapo outdoor camera stands out for keeping its battery charged and running without monthly storage fees when a card is installed. The app is easy to use, the image is described as clear, and the fixed wide-angle design works well for driveways, porches, and tree mounts. It also supports Tapo hubs and can overwrite old clips when the card fills up. The main tradeoffs are 1080p resolution, event-based recording by default, and occasional missed motion around twilight. A practical pick if you want wireless coverage without wiring or battery swaps.
The solar panel can keep the camera near full charge during rainy fall weather.
The camera can reach about 98% charge before sunset after two days of use.
The camera can work with Tapo app storage using a memory card without extra fees.
The camera can be mounted on trees and can record through the H200 hub or the newer H500 hub.
The camera can miss some events around twilight even when daytime detection works.
The camera can take 2-3 seconds longer to wake up and start live streaming than wired Tapo cameras.
The camera can be limited to event-based clips rather than default 24/7 continuous recording.
The camera can record clips only up to about two minutes long.

Just wanted an idea so I know to wait or not. Thanks!
What I was trying to say in my original comment was that I'm happy with 2K resolution and unsure if I want to step down to 1080P in these cameras. The 2K version of these are on sale right now for $65 without solar panel and $90 with solar panel

EDIT: Nevermind had new selected. Thanks!

I've had the 2K version of this camera installed above my garage for nearly a year now. It wakes up multiple times each day whenever anyone comes or goes, and my 256GB card still reports that it's only about 10% full. The solar panel also gets several hours of sun exposure in the afternoon, and the power level on the camera rarely dips below 99%.
The wired cameras can record continuously, but the default behavior is still to record based on activities and you have to explicitly change it in the settings. I've been using a few wireless cameras for a couple years now, and just set up a wired one last week
In any case, the amount of video you can fit on a given card will depend on the camera's record settings- resolution, event-driven vs constant, wake-up sensitivity, etc.
I have a rental property with a pain in the ass neighbor that keeps throwing weed killer into my grass and killing my bushes. I really don't want to ask my renter to hop on to their Wi-Fi. Does this or are there any cameras that allow me to view footage from home without a Wi-Fi signal? Or do I have to go there and pull the memory card every time I want to see something?
Flood light is a bonus too.
Anyone has experience with this?
