This cordless M18 wet dry vac is best for quick cleanup jobs, with compact storage, decent suction, and handy blower use for inflating tubes and rafts. The 5.0 Ah battery bundle matters because the vac drains smaller packs fast, and the larger battery can deliver about 20 to 30 minutes of runtime. The non FUEL version is louder and less convenient than the FUEL model, with weaker suction and a hose that sits inside the latch. It fits small tasks well, but battery life and noise are the main tradeoffs.
Common Questions (5)
No, this deal is for the non-FUEL version. The FUEL model is described as having a brushless motor, better suction, quieter operation, and an external hose, while the non-FUEL is louder and less convenient to access.
It is well suited to small cleanup jobs like drill shavings, car-seat cleanup, and other quick pickups. It is not the right tool for large inflatable items, where a high-volume, low-pressure pump works better.
Yes. It can eat through smaller M18 batteries fast, and a 5.0 Ah pack is the safer choice for usable runtime. One report puts runtime at about 20-30 minutes on a 5.0 Ah battery.
The non-FUEL version does not accept bags without modification, but it can be adapted. One setup uses a modified adapter for a different battery platform, and another adds filter bags with a 3D-printed, silicone-glued insert.
The listing was reported as changing from a $139 bundle to a $149 bundle with a 5.0 Ah battery. A separate comment questioned whether the $139 version included a 9.0 Ah pack, but the later update says the 139 deal was removed.

Get the fuel version if you want more suction. Plus the hose on the fuel is on the outside for convenience. On the non-fuel you gotta open/close the latch lid every time you wanna get or put back the hose. Furthermore, the non-fuel screams like your ex, whereas the fuel is less loud like your current woman.
I have this one and it works pretty well. If I had to rank my biggest complaints they would be as follows. Please take these comments with moderation, as they are not dealbreakers for me.
1) It's pretty loud and high pitched. It's not awful but I rank this a bit higher since I put the vac on car seats when cleaning the floor wells and it ends up being right by my ear.
2) Runtime. Again this is not terrible, and I haven't rigorously tested it, but I do get the impression that runtime is on the low side compared to other similar vacs.
3) Does not accept bags without modification (as mentioned above). For me this is not a biggie since I don't use this particular vac for fine dust or anything nasty.
I previously had the DeWalt hybrid shop vac (DCV581H - same as the DCV580H but with 120 AC input in addition to 20V MAX). It was quieter and had longer runtimes but the performance is horrible--not even close. I believe that this DeWalt was the first (or at least one of the first) cordless shop vacs to hit the market over a decade ago. It hasn't been updated since, and shows its age. (It also doesn't take bags BTW). For those on team yellow, I would strongly recommend against buying one of those vacs in 2025 and either wait for an update or get an adapter to use another brand.
For anyone looking to pay a bit more to avoid some of these issues then obviously consider the FUEL, but I would also recommend the RIDGID HD0318 which sells at $129 bare tool. The RIDGID has more suction, higher capacity and is quieter than either of the M18s. Like the M18 FUEL is has an external hose and takes bags (without modification). It also has a neat dustpan feature. It has better runtime than the M18 non-FUEL. I don't have the FUEL so I haven't compare runtime with that model directly. For Milwaukee users, the disadvantages of the RIDGID versus the FUEL would be the battery platform obviously, and lack of PACKOUT integration (plus it's not red!). I use DeWalt batteries in my RIDGID with an adaptor. You can just of easily do it with M18 batteries. I chose to use it with 20V MAX rather than M18 because 1) I happened to have more DeWalts at the appropriate size, and 2) 20V MAX has protection build into the battery. Just be aware of that last point because M18 has protection in the tools, not the battery so you are giving that up using an adapter to a third-party platform.
As a tool review: super convenient for small jobs however eats through batteries like a kid and candy. About20-30 min of run time on a 5aH battery.
It's more powerful suction than I expected, compact and easy to store. I like the box shape, stacks nicely on a shelf.
I think that's hard to beat. My father has been using this brushed version for many years and never felt the need to upgrade to the FUEL version. Has plenty of suction for random small jobs, I have a plug in large shop vac for big stuff. This is more for sucking up drill shavings and little things and not having to drag out the big machine IMO.
