Garmin's epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire Edition is a rugged premium smartwatch best known for long battery life, strong training features, and a built in flashlight. It pairs with a phone for notifications, and Android adds quick replies and app level notification control while iPhone is limited to viewing alerts. Call handling is basic because there is no microphone or speaker, so answering means using the phone to talk. The 51 millimeter size feels large to some wrists, making the smaller sizes more appealing for everyday wear.
Common Questions (4)
Yes, it was mentioned at $450 through Garmin's website or eBay, and Best Buy was also listed at the same $499.99 price with a possible $25 off $250 Amex Offer. A refurbished 47mm deal was also mentioned at $385.
No microphone or speaker is built in. You can answer or reject calls from the watch, but the phone still has to handle the conversation.
On iPhone, it can show messages and call alerts but cannot reply. On Android, it can show messages and send quick replies, with more control over which apps send notifications.
Yes, it reportedly holds a charge far longer than an Apple Watch. That longer battery life is one reason it appeals to people who want a smartwatch that can last much longer between charges.

and they are terrible, if not impossible, to type text. you have no way to respond to text message unless it is pre-populated.
basically if you looking for actual smart watch features on those, you are looking at the wrong place. but then again, no smart watch last a week with always on screen, thus i have one.

I did initially consider getting something with a built in mike for using Siri more effectively, but looks like mic commands still in very early stages.
Anyone have suggestions for a great band that goes well with this watch for everyday use and something for more formal use? Support mentioned that titanium band will likely get easily scratched (I have the DLC titanium today on my Fenix 6, and can confirm even the black gets scratched, bare metal apparently is worse per support0
