This is a PCIe 4.0 SSD that looks strongest as a fast, high-endurance drive for gaming PCs and PS5 storage. The spec sheet points to an 8 channel controller, 1500 TBW endurance, and 2GB DDR4 cache, while digging suggests Micron TLC NAND and a Phison E18 controller. Benchmark talk for the 4TB version highlights strong random read, full disk write, and sustained read performance. The heatsink is included and can be removed, though it takes some effort. The NEM PAC and NEM PAB models are also described as DRAM less.

  • The drive can deliver strong random read and full-disk write performance based on benchmark comparisons for the 4TB version.

    AquaLinen207

  • The model's published specs list an 8-channel controller, 1500 TBW endurance, and 2GB DDR4 cache for PCIe 4.0 use.

    Golgatha

  • The heatsink can be removed for gaming PC builds when thermal pads need to be handled carefully.

    GrandmasterBBC

  • The DRAM-less design is confirmed on Nextorage's product pages for the NEM-PAC model in this listing.

    6en10

  • The Amazon listing can be confusing about DRAM presence, requiring extra steps to verify the DRAM-less design.

    6en10

  • The heatsink may be a pain to remove because thermal pads can be stuck and require gentle peeling.

    GrandmasterBBC

  • The price can jump back to normal after a temporary drop when stock changes before checkout.

    ruber1

  • The NEM-PAC model is DRAM-less, which can make it a worse choice than NEM-PA variants that include DRAM cache.

A really good price. Heatsink, Japan, and NVME Gen4. Not bad if it fits in your use case.

I did extensive research on the 4TB version using benchmarks on PCPartPicker picker and elsewhere: this drive outperforms others at higher price by a 2x margin in the metrics that matter - random read. Also better in full disk write, and on par or.slightly better on sustained read. The Heatsink can't be removed, it that is a problem for you

Just curious but why do you say the heatsink cannot be removed? It looks like those 8.99 ones you can find on amazon that squish together with 3 screws on each side to hold it together. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't come apart.

I really, really want to know exactly what's under the hood on this drive.

Previous review shows Micron NAND and a Phison controller most likely though. Their own spec sheet shows an 8-channel controller, 1500 TBW endurance, and 2GB DDR4 cache on this model; so this seems to be a really solid PCIe 4.0 drive for any application.

Does anyone have experience with their support or warranty claim process? My understanding is that they don't have an office in the US.

Yes. 2GB DDR4 as Golgotha above posted. It's a very solid no BS drive.

The heatsink absolutely can be removed. I had to do this for gaming PC with one of these drives. You'll just need to unscrew and pull apart. The thermal pads will be stuck to the drive but you will just need to gently peel them off. It's kind of a pain but very doable.
