I know other have mentioned the app. I don't use the app, and the sound quality is pretty good. I mostly listen to music and podcasts while my kid is in the park and it works well.
The one thing that really annoys me is that there is no groove or indent to open the case. The case is round and smooth, and I have a hard time opening the case sometimes; have to grip a certain way to open.
Overall, great value under $10.

Baseus Eli 2i Fit open ear earbuds stand out for comfortable, secure wear, quick pairing, and surprisingly solid sound for about $10. Battery life is a highlight too, with the case lasting weeks between charges in regular use, and the Bluetooth range is described as very strong. The main drawbacks are the slippery round case, which can be hard to open and orient on the charger, and basic controls, since there is no app support, no volume control on the buds, and pairing is limited to one device. A strong budget pick if you want simple open ear listening.
Quick pairing and clear, crisp audio can make the open-ear fit feel easy to live with.
The earbuds can deliver weeks of use without recharging the case during daily listening.
The earbuds can maintain strong Bluetooth range and fast connection behavior for music and podcasts.
The case design can be easier to open after a recent upgrade with an extended top lid.
The smooth, round case can be difficult to open because it lacks a groove or indent for grip.
The earbuds can lack on-bud volume control and they offer no app connection option.
The earbuds can stay connected to a phone even after placing them in the case.
The earbuds can only pair to one device and they lack reset or force-pairing controls.

Why would people mention an app?
As I did a search in google play, there is a Baseus app for certain Baseus earbuds, but not all Baseus earbuds. I would assume the expensive ones require the app.
Subjective, but they align with my ears shockingly well. I forget I have them on. This is probably 80% of the value for me. I've had a hard time finding this kind of fit.
Audio is solid. It's not some audiophile set, duh, but my music sounds clear and crisp and it can get plenty loud.
Good news: pairing has always been quick and painless. Bad news: they can only pair to one device. You have to turn off Bluetooth on a paired device to get these into pairing mode. No way to force pairing or a reset via the headphones themselves.
No volume control via the headphones themselves which is a pretty big bummer.
No app connection option whatsoever.
The case is a bit slippery and smooth, but I got used to it. May cut a small lip into it to make opening easier.
So these are basic in several ways, but the basics are solid. Big win for me.
got my senior dad a pair of v20i. perfect since there's no buttons. all he has to do is charge the case every couple weeks. now I don't have to listen to his fox news and OAN
