The Weber Smokey Joe 14 inch is a compact charcoal grill that shines for small cooks, quick searing, and low charcoal use. Its size keeps steaks close to the heat, and it handles burgers, brats, and other basics well. The simple build has some quirks, though, since the legs can bend and the nuts can loosen, and airflow or temperature control may need DIY tweaks. It also has a classic, collectible appeal that has kept it around for decades, making it a handy little grill with some tinkering potential.
The 14-inch cooking surface can sear steaks closely using minimal charcoal compared with larger 22-inch or 26-inch grills.
The grill can still cook well even when the legs need reshaping or fastener upgrades for stability.
The compact size can support higher-heat grilling by opening the lid and using a charcoal chimney setup nearby.
The grill has been used for decades and is described as a classic option for portable charcoal grilling.
The legs can bend out of shape easily and the included nuts can loosen, making reshaping and re-tightening a recurring hassle.
Promo code discounts may not apply unless the cart is exited and re-entered before checkout, which adds friction to ordering.
The grill's small size can limit versatility for users who want the cooking area of larger 22-inch or 26-inch models.
The grill is described as highly collectible and desirable, which can make using it feel less appealing for some buyers.
