This is an excellent controller. Before anyone posts any misinformation (which is often the case on this controller's threads) -- this controller IS compatible with the Switch 2. You have update both the controller and the USB dongle with the latest firmware. And you have to start the controller while pressing the Y button. This starts the controller in switch mode. The USB dongle has to plugged into the switch 2. Since the switch 2 has a USB-C port on top, it is quite convenient since you don't need any special adapters. Just plug the dongle on top while console is docked. Switch compatibility was added a few months ago and 8bitdo doesn't advertise it much. So this causes much confusion with folks thinking this only works with PC.
Also this update brings with it direct mode support in steam. You need to start the controller while pressing while pressing the B button. Steam will then recognize it natively as an 8bitdo controller. You'll have to full gyro controls along with analog triggers.

I believe they pushed a firmware update for this to work on switch now. Maybe even switch too. Can't look too far into it, getting ready for work, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/8bitdo/c..._switch_2/

Thanks for the clarification. Do you need one dongle for each controller? I plan to buy 2 controllers for the switch 2, an I'm not sure if they would both fit one next to another in the dock

I'm not a 100% sure, but as far as I know, one controller can connect to only one dongle. You might be able to connect both dongles (one from each controller) to the same port using a simple usb-c splitter. But can't say whether that'll work. It's worth a shot though.
Most people don't think about this, but if you have wide shoulders the ergonomics of this controller suck. The angle that your arms go out is determined by the angle of the sides of the controller, and it's nearly straight back on the 8bitdo Ultimate series. Compare this angle to.... pretty much every other controller for sale.
I love the actual controller and still have it on my TV stand with its beautiful dock, but had a hard time figuring out why I wasn't comfortable when I played it, and unfortunately use it very little now.
