The TCL QM8K stands out as a bright room TV with strong daytime performance, and the 4K panel is the real resolution despite the model name. It is often described as a step up from the QN90D for bright spaces, with very good picture quality and an impressive sound system. The main caveats are weaker dark room performance than OLED, some reports of blur, humming or buzzing at high brightness, and the ARC port not being HDMI 2.1. It looks like a solid fit if your room has a lot of light and you can work around the audio setup.

  • The QM8K can work well for bright room daytime viewing with strong performance in daylight conditions.

  • The QM8K can deliver a better bright-room picture than the Samsung QN90D and many other options.

  • The TV can pair well with a receiver setup for cleaner cabling and easier input switching across multiple HDMI devices.

  • The QM8K can be a strong choice for shoppers comparing against OLED when the viewing environment is not a dark room.

  • The deal can provide extra value through a Prime card cash-back offer on the $897.99 price.

  • The QM8K can fall short of OLED dark-room performance because ambient light can raise blacks to grey.

  • The ARC port limitation can prevent 2.1 audio features from working as expected for some setups.

  • The TV can produce humming or buzzing at high brightness, which can be a dealbreaker for some buyers.

  • TCL warranty service can involve a difficult run-around process based on personal experience.

  • RTINGS comparisons may not be apples-to-apples because the ratings methodology changed between the compared models.

Capitol One shopping has 10% off Best Buy today. I wish I had waited but this BF price is good. But it could have been much slicker!

Not bad at all. Now the 85" needs to come down in price too....might just spring for the QM7K, not sure if I'll notice the difference between the two anyway.

Is this TV as good as LG QNED85 ??
Per RTINGS, the QM8K is better; however, their ratings methodology has changed between the two, so its not an apples to apples comparison.

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but does anyone think the 65" QM7K will get any lower than the approx. $800 prices at WM and Amazon during this BF and CM season? It was as low as $548 temporarily at WM a few weeks ago.

How is YouTube TV and apps on this? Will it be faster than my onn 4k plus box or should I just stick with it?
Try both and see.

Can't agree more. I was looking at 8k/7k or c5/s90f but got 6k pro from Costco and its been phenomenonal. I don't think I need to spend any more. No doubt the others tvs are better but the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Also Costco 5 year warranty makes it sweet. Paid $426 including tax the best TV I ever had...
How is the audio on the 6K. I've got a really tight area and would rather the screen size than get a smaller tv and use a sound bar. I just returned a pretty damaged 6K that I got where the screen had issues and the sound was absolutely abysmal. Super tiny, absolutely zero bass and a weird mid-boxy overall sound. Wondering if my unit had more damage than just the screen or if the sound on this unit is just bad.

Audio is average so I won't buy it for that. I bought a Sonos arc to go with it lol spending more on the soundbar than the tv lol

QM6K that I set up last night for $499 is good enough for the majority of people looking at this size T.V. It has blown my socks off so far.
I have a 55" TCL 55QM751G, and looking for a 65", but I am not sure which 65QMxK is closest to it, is the QM6K about the same as the QM751G do you know?

I wish I could answer this. I would have to do research to help you. Maybe someone else will chime in. I'm still happy with the 6K after several days of use.

QM751G is 2024 model (equivalent 2025 model is QM7K). QM7K would your closest; QM8K would be the next level.

No one can tell but prices will go down as the 2026 release cycle nears. If it doesn't go down this holiday season it will start to go down during Jan-Feb season as the 2026 release cycle starts.

Thanks, I suspected as much but haven't ever followed them before.

The Hisense version of this TV is on another thread right now for $100 less if you are interested. It's from an ebay seller though. https://slickdeals.net/f/18862711-hisense-65-u8qg-series-4k-165hz-qled-miniled-google-smart-tv-ebay-798-39?src=SiteSearch

Please Google TCL on their warranty service. I'm experiencing the nasty run arounds many people mentioned in their reviews. You seriously don't need to go through this.
