I haven't seen a 7k at Costco, just the 6k. The 7k is a huge upgrade over the 6k.

Huh?

this from rtings.com

"The TCL QM8K is significantly better than the TCL QM7K. The QM8K gets a lot brighter, delivering bright highlights in HDR and a more impactful HDR experience overall. This higher peak brightness also translates to a better bright-room experience, as the QM8K can overcome more glare in a bright room. The Mini LED local dimming feature on the QM8K is also better, resulting in less haloing around bright spots in the scene."

Of course in a lab you'll see the minute differences. Focusing on specs too much is a far too common problem. If it looks good, it looks good and the QM6 and QM7 are phenomenal

The human can detect about 100 nits of brightness difference

There are viewing situations where the QM8k is 1000 nits brighter than the QM7K
That is very significant

Significant levels of brightness and black levels are very easy to see
For instance..I never confuse an LCD with an OLED

I think the only person that would not know the difference is a person who had not seen the QM8
And there is more in regard to how much better the local dimming functions on the QM8 versus the QM7

Looking good can be relative to what else you have seen versus what else is out there

Again...for $100 more, the QM8 is a no brainer, in my opinion
