It's the least durable of the plastics - prone to cracking. Polycarbonate is preferred, especially for long haul flights.

It is not durable. My gf had ABS and my set is polycarbonate. I have owned mine over 10 years, while her set is 3 years old. Last trip (we travel 3 to 4 times a year) hers split open. Mine still are perfect. They don't split at home...it's always during your trip and it's not fun. Spend a little extra for something that will last.
