Don't buy the model without a remote. The app is slow. If you intend on using it with frequent setting changes, it's gonna be annoying. The widget on ios is not very useful other than on and off.

Just set up one today, app is near instantaneous for me. Maybe do a speed test and check for latency from your ISP or possibly your home network.
