But if you think you'll want more/higher quality ui cameras than what it can support, then you'd have to look at splitting the gateway and access point(s)
Ubiquiti is very much like Apple - they have an ecosystem that plays nice with each other, so you can manage everything from the same place, versus having to manage each part of your network individually. You do pay up front for that convenience though.
Community Reviews
The UniFi Dream Router 7 is a compact all in one gateway that stands out for easy management, Wi Fi 7, and a built in PoE port, making it a strong entry into the UniFi ecosystem. It is praised for stable wired performance, simple VPN access, and room to grow with access points, cameras, and other UniFi gear without a subscription. Coverage is solid for smaller to mid sized homes, but range can trail stronger Asus or mesh setups, and larger homes may need extra wired access points. It also has a learning curve and limited camera capacity, so it fits best when you want UniFi control in a modest setup.
The UniFi ecosystem supports many apps and can scale to add cameras, NAS, door locks, and door bells without a subscription.
PayPal Pay in 4 reportedly provided 20% cash back, which can reduce the effective purchase price to around $190.
The Dream Router 7 can serve as a simple point-and-click management layer for a full 2500 sq ft home.
The device can integrate easily with UniFi cameras, including G6 Turret, while Wi‑Fi 7 performance reportedly works.
The PayPal 20% offer can appear in the PayPal app but may not show up at checkout, creating a discount mismatch.
The interface can be confusing for non-techy people and it lacks a settings search, which can slow down finding options.
Wi‑Fi range can be poor compared with other routers, with one report showing about 150 Mbps versus 600 Mbps on an ASUS AX11000 Pro.
The Dream Router 7 may require additional access points for proper coverage at scale, since it is designed for roughly 1500 sq feet.
