The UniFi Gateway Fiber is a fanless, quiet 10 gigabit gateway that makes sense when you already have a separate UniFi controller or can run the management software on a server or in Docker. It is praised as a solid router for fast WAN setups, including SFP to Ethernet links and multi gigabit fiber service, with IDS and IPS throughput around 3.5 gigabits. The main catch is that this is the UXG Fiber, not the UCG Fiber, so it does not include UniFi software built in and needs external management. The overlapping model names make it easy to buy the wrong unit, so the naming deserves close attention.
The gateway listing can be managed by running the UniFi controller software in a Docker container on a separate server.
A faster WAN path is possible by using an SFP-to-Ethernet adapter on the SFP WAN port for up to 10Gbps.
A 10Gbps SFP-to-Ethernet link between floors can work well with UniFi switches and 10Gb uplinks.
The unit can be a good fit when buyers want a fanless, cool, quiet gateway while hosting UniFi software externally.
This product is the UXG-Fiber model and it does not include UniFi software built in, so it needs external management.
Overlapping gateway names can make it easy to buy the wrong UniFi Gateway model.
UniFi controller software can fail to start automatically, including when run in Docker.
Some SFP modules, such as H!Fiber SFPs, have caused issues and may limit IDS/IPS throughput to around 3.5Gbps.

Does it make sense to purchase both UCG-MAX and UXG-Fiber ? My thought is to use UCG-MAX as the controller and a managed switch, UXG-Fiber as the router.
I run the Unifi frontend on my server in a docker/portainer so I don't need the box doing all the work to host the software, these run fanless/cool/quiet as well.
In for one.
