I own a pair of these and they are fully coated with the waterproof orange stuff and then the working surface has an additional black coating for a gripping texture. The inside has a soft fluffy liner that does a good job at keeping your hands warm. I use mine mostly for when I have to work with cold wet stuff like scooping out gutter leaves right before winter and want to keep my hands warm and dry.

Why don't these glove companies just dip the the glove to coat the back of the glove, instead of just the front? Would increase cost just a little more, yet make the gloves so much more protective and useful.

Your hands & gloves will smell bad because of no air circulation ... stinky hands & feet! ... really cool when eating a sandwich .

I bought these for working outside in Alaska in the winter, when it gets to -30-40F on a regular basis. They do not keep your hands warm, they are probably good to 0F, and can be worn for short times at extreme cold temperatures, where they are better than nothing but you aren't to be happy for extended durations.

Think about which way your hands bend. If you coated the entire glove in the thick black rubber you would lose a ton of dexterity. Also the back of your hands really aren't a contact area anyway so it wouldn't make sense.
