This is a fine set if this is your absolute budget or a gift you are not sure if the person will use more than few times. People buy this set and want to upgrade soon after so you can find this used pretty cheap too. If you are really looking to get into golf and have 500-700 you can get a pretty slick used set. Or the vice beginner set. Or Callaway pre owned. Or even the Cleveland iron set listed here for under $500
