I never have been able to bring myself to buy shelf stable milk due to the huge premium over regular milk on a per ounce basis, especially when I have a refrigerator...

edit:
That's 144 oz milk for $10.16 when a gallon (128oz) of refrigerated milk is under $4

The math:
$4/128 X 144 = $4.50 for 144 oz refrigerated milk. So this shelf stable milk costs more than double!

And it's actually less than $4 a gallon at Walmart...

It's not about the price, It's about convenience. No one buys water for the price, $2 for a 12oz water bottle when it's like $0.15 a gallon.

I'm not willing to pay double for what I consider to be a small convenience,
I'm frugal like that even though I don't have to be.

I also buy Kleenex in "Flat" boxes instead of cubes because they are the same tissues and are usually half price or better. The very small increased space the box takes up is not an issue for me. I have an extra 4"X4" space on my counters and end tables.

What about the hormones? Hormones are free in that $4/gallon milk! You can't find any hormones in the organic stuff!

If you're primary concern is hormones, don't buy stuff from the supermarkets anymore. Try raising your own cow, and remember, don't drink it raw

It's hype that they successfully marketed to people who are willing to pay more than double for something that has no actual health benefits vs regular milk.

Big difference is organic vs not. Chances are the walmart organic is double what you're estimating here. Whether or not that's your cup o tea is surely going to be brought up but irrelevant!

good deal...

however.... the last time I ordered them from Amazon(sold and shipped by Amazon.com directly), they arrived with less than 1 month remaining, based on the printed expiration date. I did finish them and they tasted okay, but 1 month was awfully short.

Yes, the same corporations that everyone hates now, sold almost everyone this idea that "organic" is better just so they could charge double for essentially the same thing with some small added costs to them.

The last time I ordered Cherry Coke from Amazon it was one month from expiration.
I've never seen that at Walmart because they turn over a lot of product. Amazon sits on it and when it gets near expiration they have a sale.

It's convenience, I would buy something like this because i don't drink milk often. If I buy a gallon or half gallon, it'll probably go bad before I finish it - with something like this there's less waste and it's supposed to last much, much longer than refrigerated milk (though Amazon has a habit of selling food items close to their use by/expiration.)

I keep powdered milk at home for the same reason. I have it when I need or want it, use just what's needed and waste less.

If you go through enough milk to keep "fresh" milk in the fridge, this isn't for you.

I suspect that Amazon is becoming a wholesale discounter, similar to what big lots used to be. They probably get overstock close to expiration cheap and run these deals to get rid of it.

I keep powdered water at home too. Much easier to rehydrate when needed

We purchase these for our kids to have on the go / packed with school lunch. You can't compare that with refrigerated milk
