I tried a pair of used AirPods Max last year and won't ever do it again. The previous owner did not remove the headphones from their iCloud account and BB was not able to reset them (obviously) or contact them. I had a constant popup on my iPhone saying the previous owner could see my location and no way to disable it. A lesser issue, but still a turn off, they also had the person's…musk.

After buying open box stuff from sometime one thing I would say is never trust best buy, I would always roll dice on Amazon open box/used like new but never on best buy they are crooks and dont check nothing before reselling.

You can find generic replacement pads on amazon for around $15 or even less.

if anyone does get these do NOT get starlight. the skin oils become very visible...and i'm a guy and I don't wear make up. you can wash them but if not dried properly they grow mold

I spend THOUSANDS a year at Best Buy. A recent open box excellent item I purchased was severely scratched and didn't even operate (Samsung projector). I am extremely skeptical of any open box items from Best Buy. Also, customer service has gotten horrendous. I miss the prior CEO.

I definitely fell this Openbox or refurbished with Geelsquad certified really a joke. If you are lucky you get good item else no way. Now a days Geek squad people are so irresponsible and they not even touch if there is an issue after you bought it until unless you have Geeksquad premium protection plan on it. Be cautious on Geeksquad certified specially.

I buy A LOT of BestBuy open box devices and it has definitely gotten worse lately. They must use the after-hours cleaning crew in each store to pack and grade the open box items as no one who has been trained to do it could do such a bad job and still KEEP their job!

They recently changed the terms of "Excellent" to include units without original boxes so they can sell their year-old display models as "Excellent" to get the most money. Yeah...something that has been touched by 100's of people and left on for thousands of hours is "Excellent/Like new"...right?

Generally I've had pretty good luck with "Open Box - Excellent" with the condition of the items themselves but the cables, accessories, etc. they come with have been a mixed bag. I've had much worse luck with Amazon- Like New when it comes to electronics.

I was surprised to find that out recently with the $90 airpods pro2. No packaging, came in a plastic bag.
I thought it was a mistake but now I know. At least everything looks unused so for the price I am keeping it.
