Longtime Thinkpad user, dating back to when they were IBM. I am trialing a new X9-15 at work, coming off of an X1 and a P1-series, and I have to say the X9-15 is the best Thinkpad model I've used in many years. Can't speak to the X9-14 specifically, only the the 15" model.

It's proving to be a great compromise between the P1 and the X1. I'm a few months in and thus far have zero regrets, which in an of itself is pretty unusual. Great battery life, great performance, and so far the thermals are very well handled. Nice look and feel, as well, with the chassis and screen quality.

I also have a Macbook Pro 15 (nature of my job in IT, using multiple machines and Windows + MacOS to ensure cross platform compatibility across a range of systems and tools). This should scratch the Macbook hardware itch for many of our Windows users with Macbook-envy.

DISCLAIMER: YMMV based on what characteristics you value in a laptop but the X9 should tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people not seeking a more fringe/specialty laptop (focused on gaming, for example).

I have the 15-inch model and think it's a much better choice than the 14-inch. You get a WAY bigger battery, significantly more display area (it's actually 15.3 inches), a USB-A port, and the weight difference is minimal (3.1 vs. 2.8 lbs). It's one of the lightest 15-inch laptops available, and with the thin bezels the footprint isn't too much bigger than a 14-incher.

The X9 is a pleasure to use - great display, sound, touchpad. Zero issues in the half year I've had it. If you're not hung up on "traditional" ThinkPad traits like the TrackPoint, this is the best general-use Windows laptop on the market.

Price went up to $1,739.
I am looking for a ThinkPad with Touch screen, and OLED is optional. I will run some accounting software and basic Excel etc. I am upgrading my ThinkPad T450S that is still working great but stopped receiving Window updates. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I think this is an extremely high price for a 258V processor. It's a slower, aimed at low-consuption processor.
