The SoloCam S340 is a solar powered outdoor camera best known for its dual lens view, 360 degree pan and tilt, and optical zoom for covering cars, driveways, and other wide areas. The detachable solar panel makes placement easier, and the HomeBase 3 integration and free app based setup add flexibility without a subscription. Motion detection can be excellent when settings are tuned, but it can also miss animals, people, or events at close range, and some setups report Wi Fi drops, slow notifications, or no 24 hour recording.
Common Questions (5)
It can work well for people and vehicle tracking when the settings are correct, and some units also detect animals reliably. Other reports say it misses motion at close range or at longer distances, so detection performance may need tuning and still can be inconsistent depending on placement and sensitivity.
Yes, the detachable solar panel can keep it charged well in sunny conditions, and some setups report daily charging with no manual charging needed. Cold weather, snow, or a failing panel can reduce charging performance over time.
No. It records events only, even when wired, so it cannot do 24/7 continuous recording. That makes it less suitable if you want to scrub through nonstop footage instead of reviewing motion clips.
Yes, it can connect to HomeBase 3 and use that hub for storage and AI features. It is not working with Flock, and one report says it cannot connect to HomeLink.
Detection range appears limited, with reports around 26 to 30 feet for motion capture and weaker results beyond that. Targets farther away may be missed, especially at night or when the camera is aimed at a wide area.

This one has my eye as well. I have the battery only model and it has been working well so far. I just got a Tapo C400 which is also a battery unit but it is incredible as far as how clear it is during the day and night.
Yes the S3 is the same to this !
I have 4 uefy cameras and now invested in ubiquiti and they are slowly being replaced with imo a way better system with similar no monthly subscriptions.
I heard some people say the panel will eventually fry up

Pros:
Dual-lens system: Includes a wide-angle lens and a 3x optical zoom lens for better detail, which the E42 lacks.
360° pan and tilt: Allows for tracking and broader coverage, making it a superior choice for many areas.
Better detection: Users report it has a better PIR sensor and greater detection distance.
HomeBase 3 integration: Can connect to HomeBase 3 for more advanced AI features like facial recognition and expanded storage.
Cons:
No 24/7 recording: Currently, it only records events and cannot continuously record 24/7, even when wired.
Eufy E42
Pros:
24/7 recording: Can perform continuous recording when connected to power, a feature missing on the S340.
4K quality: Records in 4K resolution.
Optional pan-and-tilt: Offers the ability to pan and tilt if needed.
Solar power option: Comes with a solar panel for charging and is compatible with a USB-C power supply.
Cons:
Slower detection: Some users have noted mediocre motion detection and a longer delay in live view loading.
Less optical zoom: Lacks the S340's optical zoom and dual-lens system.
Performance issues: Some users report that its 4K quality isn't better than other models and its tracking is poor.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the S340 if:
You prioritize superior image quality, especially with its optical zoom.
You want the best possible detection and widest coverage due to its 360° pan and tilt features.
You plan to integrate with HomeBase 3 for advanced AI and storage options.
Choose the E42 if:
You need 24/7 recording capability, which is a key feature for continuous monitoring.
You are willing to accept the possibility of mediocre performance in exchange for the ability to continuously record.
