The Radster Trail Large stands out as a heavy but polished e bike with strong value at the sale price, especially when the PayPal offer drops it to around $640. It fits riders about 5 foot 7 to 6 foot 4 with a 27 to 35 inch inseam, and the large red frame is the version on sale. The bike is praised for solid components, smooth rides, and easy assembly with good video guidance. Main cautions are its weight, rear hub motor maintenance hassle, final sale status, and ongoing Rad support and battery safety concerns.

  • people planning to use PayPal "Pay in 4" to lower the effective price because multiple commenters said the 20% offer can be applied with PayPal (including at Best Buy) and that it brought the bike to around ~$640 (plus tax).

  • taller riders shopping for the Radster Trail Large because the fit guidance shared for the Large lists a height range of 5'7"-6'4" and an inseam range of 27"-35".

  • DIY-mechanics and tinkerers who are comfortable troubleshooting and fixing small issues because commenters said the bike is "easy to work on" with an openable cover for wiring and that parts can be sourced/replaced via Amazon/eBay.

  • buyers who want an e-bike they can potentially resell because one commenter said "It's a Rad" and that it can be sold on Facebook Marketplace for more than the deal price.

  • riders who don't have a way to handle a very heavy bike because commenters repeatedly noted the bike is "very, very, very heavy" and that you may need a strong bike rack and careful handling during delivery/transport.

  • buyers who want long-term brand support and easy parts availability because multiple commenters cautioned that Rad's future support is uncertain (including bankruptcy/going-out-of-business concerns) and that you could be stuck if parts/models aren't supported later.

  • buyers who need an easy return path because a commenter warned Best Buy's return policy for this bike is "Final Sale" and "Cannot be returned."

  • people who rely on rear-tube swaps without tools or support because commenters said rear-mounted motors make rear tube changes a "PITA" and recommend a bike stand to avoid damaging the rear derailleur.

  • California shoppers who need it to be legal for their local rules because one commenter warned it "will be illegal in California" under new laws if it's a Class 3 with a throttle.

There was a recent headline in the Seattle Times that said RadPower is either cutting a lot of staff or may be going out of business. Caveat emptor.

Ebike manufacturers need to work to standardize parts and batteries across all ebikes. Even if a manufacturer doesn't go out of business, it can be difficult to get parts, especially if they discontinue a model.
This is the main reason I haven't bought an ebike - I don't want something this bike/expensive that I can't repair in a few years time.

Finally, an e-bike that can handle my large frame (according to specs). With the 20% PayPal (hope that works), could not pass up.

As mentioned before, avoid RadPower. They're bankrupt and going out of business. Unless you have a local bike shop willing to work on this, I'd look elsewhere.
Why ignore the obvious that this is still a great deal for someone that can work on things themselves.

If Rad riders are like you it would be worth buying this so just part out. Their local bike shop can buy the controller from me on Ebay for $500 and add another $500 to install and we are all good.

Besides you will pay a good percentage or near the same for a generic China ebike with similar specs and I assume that the build and components of this are better. It must be severely limiting and costly to have to always have somebody do everything for you. It can cause you to lose value and gain that somebody else can get.

No they don't they need to keep doing what they are doing offering many options and making things nice and affordable enough for the masses. They did do what you wanted but the bikes cost $5000 and up and were only available to the rich. I see a vibrant, innovative, large and wide open free market that meets everybody needs.

Why would we demand it be regulated in some way and change to fit your particular needs. If some manufacturer come out with some better feature or setup people will gravitate to them. Let the market compete and figure it out we do not want them colluding with each other that stifles innovation and keeps prices high.

What you propose is why America is suffering so badly. Before you know it we will have bureaucracy that deals with ebikes and you are only allowed to make things a certain way and by way of a congressman's cousin. That is why cars, houses and many other things are becoming out of reach.

BTW I have and have been riding for three years the low end generic china ebikes. All parts but the frame are generic. Parts from controllers to hubs are all over Amazon and Ebay. I have not needed repairs or parts in that three years and have got my value out of them already on the numerous rides I have taken.

I think you are are letting you fear and timidity control your life to much and it is making you miss the joy you can have. Everything involves risk and maybe some work or expense. If we cannot manage a cheap Ebike how could we ever manage life itself or a house or car?

I would caution against getting an ebike from a brand that might not have any support next year

I would caution to not let fear and caution make you miss a great deal or value

From what I see all parts are generic and can be replaced. You will not get a similar specs generic china bike for much less with as nice parts. This bike in particular has feature that make it very easy to work on as it has cover that can be opened to feed wires through.

Amazon and Ebay have many ebike parts of all sorts. The poor people are doing what you think does not happen, they are self supporting and fixing their own bikes like they do with their cars, homes and other things. I have no doubt that some China company will make generic parts for Rad stuff. There are companies that rebuild battery packs if need be.

Availability depends on where you are. I'm tempted but a 350 mile round trip is a bit daunting

No, I tried multiple ways. I did find one that could be "shipped to store" but it jumped to $1999,

The more I think about this I regret hesitating at all but think I was to late anyway. Really spectacular deal even with the maker going away

I paid $700 each for generic china ebikes some years ago and am not unhappy but watching a video of this one it definitely shows a more polished bike with more features and with nicer, higher end components. Probably could part it out and make $2000 even if you did not want it.

I'm in the PNW so guess I'm close to them...

I see rad bikes often in my fb marketplace for 500+ so I figure I can always get parts if I need later on.

use the paypal "pay in 4" for another 20% off taking it down to roughly $640.then i think if you use bank of america card for 3% back on internet purchases on paypal it would take it down to roughly $620
How does this work? Offer saved but it doesn't show anything relating to 20% CB during checkout.
