The Radster Trail Large stands out as a heavy but polished e bike with strong value at the sale price, especially when the PayPal offer drops it to around $640. It fits riders about 5 foot 7 to 6 foot 4 with a 27 to 35 inch inseam, and the large red frame is the version on sale. The bike is praised for solid components, smooth rides, and easy assembly with good video guidance. Main cautions are its weight, rear hub motor maintenance hassle, final sale status, and ongoing Rad support and battery safety concerns.

  • people planning to use PayPal "Pay in 4" to lower the effective price because multiple commenters said the 20% offer can be applied with PayPal (including at Best Buy) and that it brought the bike to around ~$640 (plus tax).

  • taller riders shopping for the Radster Trail Large because the fit guidance shared for the Large lists a height range of 5'7"-6'4" and an inseam range of 27"-35".

  • DIY-mechanics and tinkerers who are comfortable troubleshooting and fixing small issues because commenters said the bike is "easy to work on" with an openable cover for wiring and that parts can be sourced/replaced via Amazon/eBay.

  • buyers who want an e-bike they can potentially resell because one commenter said "It's a Rad" and that it can be sold on Facebook Marketplace for more than the deal price.

  • riders who don't have a way to handle a very heavy bike because commenters repeatedly noted the bike is "very, very, very heavy" and that you may need a strong bike rack and careful handling during delivery/transport.

  • buyers who want long-term brand support and easy parts availability because multiple commenters cautioned that Rad's future support is uncertain (including bankruptcy/going-out-of-business concerns) and that you could be stuck if parts/models aren't supported later.

  • buyers who need an easy return path because a commenter warned Best Buy's return policy for this bike is "Final Sale" and "Cannot be returned."

  • people who rely on rear-tube swaps without tools or support because commenters said rear-mounted motors make rear tube changes a "PITA" and recommend a bike stand to avoid damaging the rear derailleur.

  • California shoppers who need it to be legal for their local rules because one commenter warned it "will be illegal in California" under new laws if it's a Class 3 with a throttle.

Thanks, was just able to fit this inside my Mazda 5 mini of a mini-van.

This is BS on Rad Power's part. They are probably just really pissed Best Buy sold these at fire sale prices.
Granted this article is from last year, but clearly shows Rad Power partnering with Best Buy.

By all appearances Best Buy is an authorized retailer, meaning they should be honoring their 2-year warranty.
It is BS to pretend you did not know the terms when buying something discounted $1,000 and the fact that it was noted in the deal that Rad is going away and out of business. People and families at Rad that counted on income are losing it this Christmas season and you ask we focus on your tale of woe.

They are not mad at Best Buy clearancing them out for them as Best Buy is helping them get rid of stock before closing up shop by selling the bike under special terms. It was noted that the bike gets no returns which everyone knew equates to no support. You knew risk was involved. You knew that going in why try to play victim?

The glass half full is strong with you my friend. A moment in life when you should be content, happy and maybe even thrilled and grateful you turn sour and whiny.

You could have paid $2,000 - $10,000 and still found there is no perfect or unlimited support.

Yeah, I'm not too impressed with how my issue was handled. I found the problem and just updated my post. There's a missing spring in the TEKTRO brake lever for the magnetic switch. Should be an easy fix, but could've been handled better. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot this with very little help from tech support.
I'm not impressed when I see people get a spectacular deal and find a way to cry and whine about it but we all have our burdens in life.

I'll take it for what you paid for it with the problem if you like. Let me know I can get you contact details.

Wow, calm down dude. Lot's of burdens in my family's life right now just like I'm sure everyone else has. No need to personally attack anyone on this forum. I get it, small problems in the overall big picture of life.

Just disappointed that tech support was no help. He was telling me to look for a connector on the handlebar area that didn't even exist. There was no connector there. I had to find it myself in the downtube. I asked if I could adjust the brake switch and he said no, I'd have to replace the whole assembly. I said I'd call back if I wanted to buy the part. Easily found good info on YouTube and found the problem to be a missing $5 spring. This is now a TEKTRO problem and not a Rad Power Bike problem. I sent them an email for asking for a replacement spring. I may also go to the local bike shop or hardware store to find a spring.

I knew it said "all sales final & no returns", but I didn't know there wasn't going to be any warranty through Rad Power Bikes. I also knew the risk about the direction the company was headed. I was fine with that because I'm very mechanically inclined and can fix pretty much anything.

Yes, killer deal! I'm so excited to go on adventures with these bikes. I briefly took them around the neighborhood and they're so fun! My daughter has been experiencing many physical and mental issues over the years. She used to love riding her bike, but her physical issues have prevented her from riding. These e-bikes will help her get out in nature again!

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Best Buy. There is a warranty, but not through Rad Power Bikes. There is a two year warranty through Best Buy. They said they will repair or replace the bike under this warranty. I'm just going to fix it myself because Best Buy is a 90 minute drive for me. Happy biking everyone!

Glad you got it figured out. Re: the best buy warranty do you mean their geek squad one that you need to purchase separately (I think that comes to $400 for 2 years)?

I'm sorry but the forums are just so sour anymore with everybody having some complaint about something if we are not treated like kings it gets to me. Everybody seems to remember some time I do not where everything always went perfect and we get unlimited and never-ending support with every purchase. More of general rant and not targeted at you directly

Just saying we have to put things in perspective and it does sound like you have some..

If what BB told you is true that makes me even more envious of those getting in on the deal. I have no idea as to how they are going to do that with Rad going away but maybe they can be of some help

Very happy for you and your daughter. I to love biking as well as I have some age on me. I have been thrilled with my generic china bikes. Did thirty miles a couple weeks back and that is something that would have probably worn me out in my younger days.

If that is the case hard pass they can hardly fix a computer. I think it likely some CSR fed him some line to just kick the can down the road as it was clearly marked final sale.

If you did get one just look it over and I imagine you will find most components off the shelf and easily replaced. The big stuff like controller battery and hub motor are also somewhat user serviceable but sure not as easy. But If you do have future problems more stuff is popping up on Amazon by the day. Slew of aftermarket batteries, controllers, etc saying compatible with Rad Power.

They told me that it comes with a 2 year warranty through Best Buy. No mention of Geek Squad. He put me on hold a couple times and I repeated what he said twice to confirm what I was being told. They even asked if I'd like to return or exchange the bike. I said that I'm fine and I plan on fixing it myself. I just need to source the correct spring.

I received both of my RAD bikes last week (RAD Trail Large for me and RAD Road Regular for my wife). These were purchased in separate transactions. The BestBuy delivery was not the best - only one bike got delivered on the day I selected for both. I had to reschedule the second one (for my wife) on another day. The first delivery was great, despite a snowstorm, the second one was suspect with the delivery guy hauling it on his shoulder. Macho for sure - not sure that is the best way to handle the heavy bike. BTW these are very, very, very heavy. I got my wife's assembled on Saturday and ran into a wall - I couldn't get it to turn on. I spent 2 to 3 hrs checking, testing, charging the battery everything. Stupid me didn't realize the on button was on top of the speed controller. Ugh - I felt silly.

Anyway, when I purchased, I recall that it showed 17,034 points for both transactions (I should have screen captured it). However, when I checked my PayPal point balance, it was capped at 25,000 for the total for the two transactions. The second transaction was capped 7900 points - net 25,000. Anyone know if the original deal was really capped at 25,000 points? I did get an email that said that they would honor my original rewards, but that the deal was now capped. Does anyone else have the same issue? I complained to PayPal, but really got nowhere.

i got both the trail and road and i finally got around to building my bikes yesterday. both are pretty easy to build, good video directions and not that many steps. the only issue i had was bigger bike (large trail) the wheel was rubbing the brake disc so i had to move the brake caliper and solved that in minutes.
took them for a ride around my neighborhood, no issues both smooth rides got up to 25mph. very happy with them for the price or 600-700 after paypal savings.
heavy as hell. i still need to buy a good bike rack that can hold them so we can take them with us this spring/summer.
