Not sure why Switch Sports is $40. Nintendo announced previously that it was going to be $30.

Nope, $70-120 is crazy for a game and especially for those that have in-app purchases as well. Forget the inflation argument - games today aren't worth full price 9/10 times. Consumers really are pretty complacent in 2025 and FOMO is still at large.
These companies continue to scrape for every penny with quality a sacrifice. PC games get these awful console-style menus and games are more poorly optimized than ever. Consumers need to speak with their pocketbook and stop making it so easy for these big studios.

This sale puts several first party Switch games at around $29.99 to $30, with Splatoon 3, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, and Peach Showtime drawing the most attention. The price point is framed as strong for these titles, especially since used copies often hover near $30 and resale value stays high. Splatoon 3 also stands out for its 4.7 star rating and quick digital access for multiplayer sessions. The main snag is Switch Sports, which is showing $40 instead of the expected $30. The deal feels especially appealing if you want a current Switch title without paying full price.

  • Splatoon 3 is listed at $29.99, which matches the sale's $29.99 starting price point.

    phoinixInc0gnit0x

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door shows $29.99 in-cart, making the deal price easy to verify during checkout.

    Espy47

  • Target purchases of Peach Showtime can stack a Target card discount with free shipping.

    TheeSpark

  • A Best Buy $5 credit can be applied to make the deal work better for the buyer's total.

    audilover

  • Switch Sports is priced at $40 on the sale, even though Nintendo previously announced a $30 price.

    Shad0WeN

  • Switch Sports pricing has not been corrected at participating stores yet, which can leave the higher $40 tag in place.

    CarpathianSS

  • Splatoon 3 may be a better digital purchase because server shutdown can limit what a physical copy can do later.

    tanman99

  • The sale may be short and titles could sell out before Saturday arrives.

All stores that are taking part of this nintendo sale have switch sports priced higher. Target hasn't changed their prices yet. There is still hope they mark switch sports to the correct value

I'm usually an advocate for physical games. But Splatoon 3 works much better as a digital game. For one it's basically all multiplayer so once the servers go there won't be much to do and therefore game preservation isn't as important for this game. And I can always load it up to do a quick shift at Grizzco.

You sound like a grandpa talking about $0.05 cheeseburgers.Inflation isn't going away, just need to deal my friend.$50 is January 2019 is the equivalent of $64.50 now in terms of buying power. $40 in 2004 is $70 today in terms of buying power. Games used to be $40 in early 2000's, now they are $70. They are not more expensive, they actually are tracking exactly with inflation. That is just how the world works, better luck on your porch in a rocking chair shouting at clouds then changing inflation.

Abe Simpson is fictional. Glad I'm not like him. He got issued.

Market trends is everything.

In 2047, the PS8 Pro will be discounted to $899.99.

The 2043 Corolla Truck Plugin Hybrid Max will be retailed for $39,999.

In 2033, iPhone flagship will creep into at least $1500 territory.

Slickdeals will be charging subscribers at $69.99 per year.

Costco Membership will not be having $1.50 hotdog as a loss leader. In n out double double burger will be $9.50.

The list keep going as you as my prediction is good as anybody else.

We are not doomed lol. Unfortunately , wages still won't keep up with inflation however we are capable of getting by.
