For the same reason people buy built-in-refrigerators (that're typically 3X the price and 25% cu.ft less space than standalone fridges). When not watching TV, these display art work and personal pics rather than being a black box eyesore. Anti-glare matte screen mimic a canvas finish, and sit flush against the wall with a special mount, enhancing the illusion of real framed art.

My normal smart TV displays the same stuff when not in use, no black screen, unless I literally turn it off.

My free-standing refrigeator in garage also keeps the foods at right temperature same as sub-zero in the kitchen.

And? Re-read your original comment. It has no connection to mine.

Chris, we have both a regular TV and Samsung Frame. They both can display images when not in use, but The Frame makes them look like a real painting, at least during the day. We had a few visitors who were shocked that a painting suddenly switched to another painting. It doesn't work well with every type of image, but most scans of oil paintings do very well.

It's just a question of aesthetic preference and budget. When my kids are out of the house, and I have a prayer of keeping things clean, I think I'll get something like this.

Out current TV kind of dominates the living room.

We have a few of these, and greatly prefer them to regular TVs. Who wants a big bulky 75" traditional TV in their kitchen or master bedroom? But a larged framed piece of artwork looks great in those spaces and mny times would cost as much or more than this TV. We can change the "artwork" when we want, have it display photos, and best of all, we also get to use it as a TV. I consider much more classy than bulky obvious TV's everywhere. I'll be buying a few of these for my office too.

I didn't get it either until I got one. But it just makes a beautiful looking living room.

You'll frequently get guests asking "wasn't there a tv here before" and then you can bust out your "well actually mad'am, that beautiful art piece is my tv." And they're like "my word! That IS your tv. I'm astonished!"
