Dollar General's gift card promo stands out for discounted restaurant and gaming cards, including Popeyes, IHOP, Xbox, Lowe's, and sometimes Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops. The deal is tied to a digital coupon in the Dollar General app, and some locations also stack with credit card cash back or military discounts for deeper savings. Availability and payment rules vary by store, with some locations cash only or missing the offer entirely. Popeyes cards also have awkward app payment limits, so keeping the balance topped up helps.

Common Questions (5)

  • Cash-only rules vary by location. Some stores only allow cash for gift card purchases, while others have accepted credit cards for the same sale; a few locations may also be stricter when fraud risk is a concern.

  • Popeyes app checkout uses only one payment method at a time, so a gift card balance cannot be combined with a credit card to cover the remainder. If the balance is short, the card usually needs to be reloaded first.

  • No. The offer is location-dependent, and some stores did not have the sale or the gift cards available at all.

  • The discount is tied to a digital coupon, so the gift cards do not ring up at the sale price without it. Creating a Dollar General account may be required to access the coupon.

  • Yes. The balance in the Popeyes app can be reloaded online, including with another gift card, and the physical card or card number should be kept for future top-ups.

Maybe, but I've never run into it over years of these types of deals at multiple urban and rural DGs.
