Is this a good price? Pricing history shows it was ~$20 cheaper back in August, but you never know these days if prices ever dip back down. Would it be better to wait for official BF or CM to pick a new CPU up?

yes. 5500 is only pcie 3 and has half the L3 cache. Having said that, like most Ryzens, this is way over priced for an old 6 core cpu...
