I got one of these this week with the Best Buy deal and had a $5 credit to apply to it. We've got some heated outdoor cat houses for the neighborhood strays and I tied this to IFTTT so it turns the heating pads on and off depending on the outside temperature.

I want to get the one that has dimmer built in, not to use outside, but actually use it with a lamp in the living room

I have used one of these for three plus years to turn off/on HeatTrak mats in the cold northeast. Good product.

I use it outdoors, it works great. But the problem is that the plug covers the second outlet, making it unusable.

Even if it covers the second outlet, you still get... two outlets in the end

It's not really for outdoor.
It's outdoor rated, yes. I have 2 going strong over 4 years.

No electrical plug is going to do well with water streams. It's an outdoor plug, not a water plug.

Wouldn't the $16 Tapo Matter enabled one from Best Buy be a better buy than this at only a dollar more?
