Bought a similar one from Acer via eBay refurbished early last year. Laptop looked brand new and was perfect except for one tiny tiny area of the screen which seemed a little brighter than other areas. Not like I ever notice it unless it is a solid white screen which is pretty rare. Thoroughly pleased with it and the warranty is nice peace of mind. Probably going to grab a couple of these for gifting.

I actually just grabbed one a few hours ago. Looks like a solid option below $250. I have other Ryzen 5 laptops and theyre decent performers for my needs. This will be the "Dining Room" laptop, so the kids will appreciate the touch screen - assuming it really is touch screen, since the title does not mention it, though the details do. I dont need a super bright screen, nor do I need a fact refresh rate. I just hope the viewing angle is decent. Reddit suggests this will do USB charging. My older Acer Swift 5 will, so I suspect it has trickled down to the Aspire by now. Reviews say the appearance is quite good for a refurb, which sounds promising since its not graded. But considering my kids are going to be the primary users, itll look like its been through a war zone soon enough.

This Acer Aspire 3 refurb is a budget 15.6 inch touchscreen laptop that stands out for the price, with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, 1TB of storage, and a Ryzen 5 7520U that feels snappy for browsing, video calls, and general household use. The refurb condition is often described as near brand new, sometimes with a sleeve included, and the warranty adds peace of mind. The main drawbacks are the dim, washed out 45 percent NTSC screen, below average speakers, and occasional keyboard or battery uncertainty on refurb units. It is a practical basic laptop if you can live with the display and audio.

Common Questions (5)

  • Several units arrived looking brand new or pristine, sometimes with only a tiny blemish, and some included a sleeve or carry case. The common caveats are a loose rubber-banded charger, occasional keyboard issues like sticky keys, and the possibility that the refurb was previously opened or returned.

    MisterDudenissansupragtrGuitsBoyPassiveCarrot

  • The listing details indicate a touch screen, and the laptop is reported as snappy for browsing, YouTube, video calls, and general household use. The screen is also described as dim/dull with a 45% NTSC color range and 245 nits brightness, so it is fine for basic use but not ideal for vibrant or bright-room viewing.

    GuitsBoyDave_BGuitsBoyPassiveCarrot

  • The 16GB LPDDR5-5500 RAM is non-upgradeable. Battery replacement information is unclear, and the refurb is generally assumed to come with the existing battery rather than a new one, so checking replacement battery availability before buying is wise.

    Enoch42tyiu48GuitsBoy

  • It has an HDMI 2.1 port for connecting a better external monitor. The built-in speakers are reported as below average, muffled, and tinny, so headphones or external audio are the practical fix.

    Dave_BPassiveCarrot

  • The listing details and images conflict on ports, with one showing Wi‑Fi 5 and USB 3 while the text says Wi‑Fi 6 and no USB 3 ports. USB-C charging is not confirmed in the comments, so the port layout should be verified before buying.

I purchased this with the Paypal pay in 4 installments, 20% cashback deal. So getting back an additional $45 on this purchase. Now that's a good deal. But before we count our chickens lets see what eBay delivers and what shape this laptop is in.

Props to the OP and the person who posted the drop in price. You guys are my ambassadors of Kwan!!

Was the 20% cash back a targeted offer somewhere?

Pretty much what I need... 16gb and touchscreen. Anyone have a different brand near this price? I vowed never to buy Acer due to it's flimsy hardware.

Mine arrives yesterday, it it looks to be brand new. The charger might be used, and was simply rubber banded in the box, but the laptop has no signs of wear. Laptop works great, is pretty snappy and responsive, and is already doing well for general household duties. Most importantly, the screen was a big step up from the ASUS TFT screen that was previoulsy in its place. While the screen angle isnt the widest Ive seen, visibility against glare is reasonable. But mostly, the cursor doesnt get "lost" like the TFT did. Im plenty happy with the screen. Build quality is pretty decent for plastic. Its not as nice as my all metal swift 5 is, but its perfectly workable. Laptop overall seems great though. No complaints. In fact, I just purchased a second one as a gift.

From the look of mine, it was probbaly opened up, turned on and almost immeditaely returned just because they didnt like it for one reason or another. Might have been nothing wrong with it. But considering they might be producing tens or hundreds of thousands of these, selling 9000 open box returns isnt too alarming in my opinion.
