However there's some problem authenticating the HBO app with Hulu credentials today for some accounts. I was in a long chat with HBO support and they told me it is being fixed, but for the time being gave me a 14-day free trial of HBO to let me watch, since I already paid anyway.
Good luck

You don't need a TV package with any of these streaming services.
I was debating this against $1 per month from T-Mobile for both with ads. We watch Hulu enough that after the Amex credit it's probably worth an extra $8 per month for no ads. Besides I wasn't convinced if the T-Mobile $1 offer was a permanent thing, a glitch they will eventually fix, or a short term promotion. I figured if I went that route, T-Mobile would soon take away getting D+ with ads for just $1 more and I'd miss the $14.99 ad-free promotion. I figure if I went the $14.99 ad-free route, they would grandfather in the $1 Hulu/D+ with ads for everyone else and I could never get it. Basically I figure whatever I choose will always be wrong, so I chose no ads which are extremely annoying. Every November we have to revisit our options, and there's always the option of not subscribing any more and then once per year when you have time subscribe to ad free at full price, binge everything, and then cancel. That's what I do with AppleTV since they went from $6 to $10.
Perhaps this is just an error in the way it is displayed on the Hulu website. I'll worry about it next year.
