FYI the HomeBase runs its own hidden SSID 2.4ghz wifi. The transmitting power is insane and you cannot change the wifi channel manually. What this means is that the HomeBase will obliterate your router or AP wifi signal. It'll also screw your Zigbee network too. A workaround is to disassemble the HomeBase and disconnect its wifi antennas -- then set your cameras to run in multi-bridge mode so that they connect to your router's wifi but will still save video to the HomeBase. This requires the HomeBase to be connected to your router directly via ethernet.

I think I've had Homebase 3 for a year and I don't know that it was all that useful over putting SD cards in each camera. I guess if you are worried about theft of SD Card that might be the big use case.

Does it help with the decryption time? For me the time it takes to decrypt the saved events is so long that whoever is causing trouble would be in another state before I see the video.

Just bought a S220 and hooked it up under the front door porch. So far so good but night vision could be better. Also the solar panel doesn't get much sun being where it is. (I could have a wired camera there--there's a light socket that I could tap into.) Not sure if I should commit to the eufy ecosystem or go with Tapo. Any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I had the same issue with less sunlight lately. I got a 6W panel on amazon (about $15) and mounted it higher by the gutter, been going 2 weeks and it seems to be working. One tip, get the USB C native plug, not the extender version (mini-usb -> usb C) as it is too long and doesn't fit well with the mount.

tldr: I have this, and will not recommend.

The good: it backup all cameras so you don't have to worry about losing your captures when one unit goes bad (in any way). You can also use it as a doorbell chime if you have the eufy smart doorbell. I will strongly recommend this, if this works consistently, but read below for more info.

The bad: The connections! I have the total of 6 cameras around (including the doorbell). When first paired the first few weeks, it was smooth. Then it started going bad from there, to the point that it's almost impossible to view some of the camera Live. The reason is that the cameras will connect to the HomeBase instead of your router's WiFi directly; that means if this HomeBase goes bad, the whole system goes bad. I tried factory reset (had to reconnect ALL cameras when doing this). Problem went away for 1 good week, then back at it again. Eufy offered a swap, and it had given me the exact issue. I ended up having some researches online, and found out that this HomeBase's signal is too strong, it "eats up" your router's WiFi. (at this point i realized that it's true, because some of my TP-Link switches went offline time to time randomly). Once I got rid of the HomeBase, connecting all cameras to my router, all of this problem went away. So no, I don't think I would ever use Eufy's HomeBase ever again.

Yes. The HomeBase plugged directly to the router via Ethernet. I had also tried the WiFi connection and kept it away from the router, but it only got worse. My house is only 1200 sqft btw.

I initially installed a Patriot SSD, but it stopped working after 4 months. Now I have a WD SSD Red for NAS and it's going strong.
How long has that drive been going strong for you?

I was wondering the same myself. I think probably not unless you want to add cameras that need the 3, or want more storage, but hopefully others know for sure.

Is HB3 the latest? In other words, is this being dumped because of newer models out or going to be released?

My interest is because a while back I purchased their integrated coach light/camera with the promise of RTSP support. The promise was never honored and they have sat in a box since.

I wonder why your eufy devices are working and mine are not. We started using them 4-5 years ago and invested thousands. Lately, we cannot even access to live feed & recorded events. Their app got to the point where it is completely unusable. If anybody have suggestions, please share.
Meantime, we tried a floodlight from Tapo. It worked perfectly. Instant access.

This comes with no storage whatsoever? So it's worthless to order without ordering a hard drive too? Drives are expensive!!
Does this give more range to cameras than a good router?

Thanks
