The tankless ones need a power outlet.
AND they are noisy.

Beware of claims of its water saving features. All tankless RO systems suffer from "TDS Creep." When the pump stops, "dirty" water and "clean" water mix across the membrane via osmosis. The first cup of water always has a high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading.

So that means flushing a few cups just get to the desired TDS level one would expect from a RO system.

Not that noisy. I have the waterdrop g3p600. Plus, it's not like it's going to be running 24/7.

I rent but I really eant one of these. I can't find a way to set it up without drilling into the sink for the RO faucet
Just buy a $5 down spout to p trap piece at Lowe's or Home Depot, swap it out (they're just twist in pressure fittings), drill into the one you bought, and swap it back out with the original when you leave. I'm in my 3rd apt in the last few years and had an RO system in every apt.

It's better getting a table top filter rather than spending more for a diy in a rented property.
As long as you have access to the water shutoff, swapping out a faucet is a half-hour job for any capable person. If that was the only thing holding me back, I'd do it. Easy enough to swap it back in before move out.

You shouldn't need an additional outlet if you have a standard duplex with the top and bottom outlets like is normal. In a typical set up, only one of them will be wired to the disposal switch. The other should be always on so you can power a dishwasher. If that isn't your setup, an electrician would take 10 minutes to rewire the other plug outlet to be always on.
Do you have an electrician you can recommend that works on 10 minute billing? A great deal to get this wired up would be $100, in big cities you are likely paying 3x that, IF you can find someone that wants a job that small.

That is the most alien looking faucet I have ever seen.

does this add the minerals back in
This model does not appear to be a remineralizer. I am considering the Q3-600A model that does, it is on sale but the coupon code will not work on it.

This might depend on the amp draw. They make current limiting switches that will swap loads (e.g., between a small under sink instant hot water heater and garbage disposal). Something like that might be needed with this.

Just my 2 cents but getting something like this just does not make sense. Everything is proprietary and you will pay for it in the long run. Your standard old school system is much cheaper to own in the long run as you can buy filters and certified RO membranes from almost anywhere.

What is the difference between this type of unit and the ~$600 Waterdrop G3 units? My understanding is that, for the most part, everyone uses the same type of RO filters... so if the filtration is the same, what other features/quality justify that gap?
